The Language File

Rate this book
(Produced as a joint venture between Longman Education and BBC Books, this book is linked to the television series of the same name. The book is divided into four parts - a language autobiography, language and power, analyzing language, and celebration - and emphasizes the varieties of language in everyday use, including school, leisure, work, media and literature. Each part provides a basis for preparing a full-length assignment with a range of oral, reading and writing activities and the units within each section offer ideas and activities that provide a framework for viewing the programmes. Each unit also offers free-standing information and activities and an introduction to the concepts and terminology of language study. The text takes into account the developments initiated by the Cox Committee and provides a correlation between Language File and the National Curriculum and is suitable for all GCSE English and Scottish Standard Grade levels)
