Alonzo Pelly wanted the rangeland for his own. He didn't care who owned it. He didn't care how he got it. He aimed for it to be his --- the land, and the power belonging to the king of the range. Alonzo Pelly would stop at nothing to get that land. If forgery didn't work, then maybe arson would. And if that failed, he would not stop at murder, especially easy pickins like Patricia Lane, the young and inexperienced boss lady of the PL.
