Alyson was aware that marriage came with no guarantee. But when Judd had vowed to love her "until death do us part" she had believed him. Which was why she had been so shattered by his infidelity only eighteen months after their wedding day. Alyson did many things which she later regretted. Her divorce from Judd was one of them. Now three years had passed and they had met again. Would they remain polite strangers or would the old attraction flare between them?
While I'm sure radical pro-choice feminists will applaud this despicable h, I think the majority of women will be appalled at her cold heartlessness! Without knowing for sure, she assumed the H cheated on her with her female boss and got her pregnant (she eavesdropped on a conversation and got the wrong idea) and without telling him that she herself was pregnant, she has an abortion!!! True, after a stupid argument they both said they wanted to get divorced, and he had said recently he wasn't ready for them to have a baby, but plenty of people say that and feel differently when there's actually a baby on the way! She should have told him; he had a right to know! And that stuff about it not being fair to the baby to be brought up in a single parent home is a load of crap! If she had really wanted that baby, she never would have aborted it; she just wanted revenge on her husband!! And when he finds out, she turns it into a ME thing and goes on about how much she suffered! BOO HOO! Cry me a river that leads to your sewer!
And the way she told him was sure crappy!! They had been talking about a married couple whose marriage was on shaky ground (the wife was a client of the h, and the husband was a friend of the H). When the H was complaining about something the wife did to get back at her husband, the h tells him that it wasn't as bad as what she herself did, she aborted their baby!!! WTF!!!!!
Then she has the nerve to say that lots of women have abortions these days and there's nothing they can do about it now; besides, she wasn't all that far along, so it wasn't really a baby (the old "clump of cells" excuse), UNBELIEVABLE!!! We're supposed to believe she has feelings for this guy??? I doubt she ever did! In other books, even if the pregnant h thinks the H is pond scum (at least for the time being), she still wants the baby, and won't think of aborting (just going far away to raise the baby by herself). I hate to say it, but she sounded like she enjoyed describing the procedure to him, a bit of sadism, perhaps???
Not that the H was any prize! I didn't like him either! He brags about how he's given up drinking, smoking, and all guilty pleasures except sex! A grown man, bragging like a college frat boy???? He also sounds kind of out there; he might have stopped smoking cigarettes, but perhaps he's into weed? Wouldn't surprise me!
Their sex scenes are just that, sex. You never get a love vibe, just two horny people wanting an orgasm, using someone else's body to help them masturbate.
They both slept with other people during their time apart, and neither seemed to care, which is almost as unheard of as abortion in a so-called romance novel! This never should have been published as one!
For some reason, the author throws in a horny Swedish girl who tries to get in the H's boxers! So STUPID!!!
DNF - no way would I want these two to have a joke of a HEA!
I thought this was a good book until the moment came that the woman told the man she aborted their baby to get revenge on him, because she thought another woman was also pregnant by his baby. So disgusting. And then she feels sorry for herself when the man becomes mad that she never told him she was pregnant and that she wanted an abortion. This woman is the most disgusting woman ever in a Harlequin romance.
