Bad Boys Do It Better #1

Bad Boys Do It Better: In Love With an Outlaw

Rate this book
I'm Janelle Alexandria Elizabeth-Ann Pickney. The oldest of four girls. Graduate of New York Law School, two years earlier than expected, at the top of my class and apple of my father’s eye. After years of hard work and dedication, I’m finally rewarded by being able to sit in on one of the biggest trials in the city, being handled by the district attorney himself. I’m excited and terrified about working with him. After all my years of dreaming, the time has finally come.

But then I met him... Luke “Outlaw” Murray. The youngest of six boys. Graduate at the top of his class at hood university where he got his degree in the streets. Certified in Street Nigga-ology. He’s rude. He’s arrogant. He’s abrasive and he’s… did I say he was rude? He’s everything I don’t want in a man. Everything I shouldn’t want… until I do.

And this... this is a story about us. But beware, because it's not your average love story.

I enjoyed the bad boy and good girl storyline when it came to Outlaw and Janelle but to be honest, I enjoyed all of the characters. There is something about Kane that have me intrigued and I can't wait to get more of him. He does not play with his brothers and when it comes to them. However, Outlaws rule of not letting chicks ride in the front seat was funny as hell but I think he was on to something. A drunk Janelle was a fun Janelle but I needed her to get a backbone when it came to her roommate Val. She let Val do and say to much to her without doing anything about it. I wasn't ready for the story to end but I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

3.5...

I give it a 3.5 because I got to the end and I wanted to read the next book in the series. I liked Outlaw and I'm curious to learn more about the Murray brothers. They hold the story together but the rest of the characters aren't really grabbing my attention. I hope they do in the next book.

ARC

This book is centered around Janelle the oldest of 4 girls and Luke "Outlaw" Murray, the youngest of six boys(that right there should tell you that the dynamics between these two characters is explosive and unsurprisingly Ms. Sterling brings STRAIGHT FIREWORKS!!). When the story opens we immediately get a glimpse of Janelle who has just graduated from law school and is in court with her mentor/boss, DA Pelmington trying what everyone believes will be a slam-dunk case against none other than one of the infamous Murray brothers. We see that Janelle is extremely smart, a beautiful girl but like many of us, she has her own personal insecurities that she has had to deal with throughout her life. She comes from a well to do home and all she wants is to make her extremely successful father proud of her endeavors. Luke, on the other hand, seems to fit every stereotype of a 'bad boy' He is on trial for murder, he has the prerequisite gold grill, tattoos, and has the audacity to be sexy to boot. The thing is all of these things don't even scratch the surface of who he is as a man. We are introduced to Luke aka Outlaw's brothers, Kane, Tank, Yolo, and Cree. They each equally contribute to the story line and we are given glimpses of how tight they are and we even get to see how they handle situations when they arise. Here is the conundrum though while the outside world may look at these "THUGS" and automatically think that they are a menace to society, the exact opposite is the truth. Each of them is intelligent and college-educated. They may not stay within the letter of the law but they have a strict code of what they perceive to be morally right and they follow that to the letter. I thoroughly enjoyed the telling of this story. The interaction between Outlaw and the very straight-laced Janelle was intriguing to watch unfold. Her younger sister, Carmella brought her own savoir-faire to the tale and this was just icing on the cake if you ask me. Ms. Porscha Sterling is brilliant in pulling together individuals that NO ONE would ever expect to be together and then she creates a tale so believable she will actually have you searching for these characters in the sea of people in your specific city. Her pen game elevates from release to release. There honestly isn't anything that she can't write and I will forever be a fan. So my recommendation to all of you that are oscillating back and forth on whether to get this book the answer should be fairly obvious at this point but just in case you missed it along the way... GO GET THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY!! This is one tale you don't want to miss out on and to be honest I'm not sure how she plans to top this one but whenever I doubt her she knocks me on my proverbial behind and WoW's me with whatever she has next up her sleeve for the reading community. Kudos Ms. Sterling I can't wait for part 2. Please don't have us waiting too long for this next installment!!!!

5 Star Read

Porscha Sterling, you did that! This book awesome from beginning to end. I hope we get know more about what type of things Luke and his brothers are into. I love the chemistry between Luke and Janelle. It could definitely be felt. I also loved Cree and Carmella. They have great chemistry too. As for Yolo and Sidney, I am not really feeling that because I don't appreciate him not wanting her just the way she is. Anyway, I cant wait to read part 2.

I was looking for more from the guys seeing that we didn’t really get a real look into what they were up to or why they were doing whatever it was they did. The women all fell into these relationships with little to no reason as to why and Val, that situation was so left field I think I may have missed something within their relationship to make her act that way. Okay read just nothing really there of substance to pull you all the way in.

It has its moments, but there are just too many characters to follow. Multiple brothers, the sisters and various women they date (past and present), roommates, co workers, etc It's unnecessary!

Yeah It's Good!!

To say that I'm intrigued by not only these Murray Brothers but the Pickney sister's as well is an understatement. The writer introduces us to a very confusing, sexy and dynamic group of brothers. The women that are in their lives are some that are total opposite but the same.I love that we get a strong group of women who can do it for themselves and not ashamed of taking what they want.I love the dialogue because you get the feeling you are having these conversations with your sister ,brother or good friend. The story flows like a wild river with no time for stopping or slowing down. There are moments when you say "for real" and then you answer yourself and say "yeah".This was good writing and entertaining right down to the end, that leads you to t h e next installment you are going to want to read.

Opposite attracting

The Murray men and the women who felled for them are the prime example of opposite attracting. The men are rude, very blunt, and boast a "don't give an eff" attitude while also being generous, kind, good hearted, smart, and protective. However, as hard as they are, the women that have them switching up their norm. I got tickled at the front seat superstition. The ladies learns that what they thought they wanted come in a totally different package.

Fantastic Read

I could not force myself to take a break from this read. All I could do was sit back and allow Ms. Sterling to further confirm what I've always known-Bad Boys Do It Better! I must say that I enjoyed all of the characters; however, Sidney almost lost a fan. Great Job looking forward to part 2.

This book held my attention from beginning to end and the storyline was good and the plot was on point. It moved at a steady pace and loved how it flowed, I had finished before I knew it and wanted more. Love the characters and the brother loyalty to each other. The characters are developed with room for growth. Opposites do attract and this one is hot. Can't wait for PT.2. to see what's next.

Okay

It was okay so far. We pretty much learned how Janelle and Outlaw met and got introduced to his brothers and some other key characters. I'm feeling their chemistry but wonder how this will play out with them being on different sides of the law. It's interesting so I'll keep reading. The end of part one could've been better though.

Full of drama

Janelle and Luke were from two different worlds but the attraction was real. Who will Janelle choose Luke or Chris? Val didn't deserve Janelle's friendship. The brothers ruled the streets and each had their own issues. I will be reading the next book in the series.

Great read

I want Janelle to stop being scared of what everyone will think and give Luke a chance. Sidney is way better than me because Yolo would've been given my ass to kiss. I want Carmella to stop being scary and let Cree in. Faviola and Tank are a mess.

Really Good

Not sure what took me so long to read this series but I am happy that I did. Outlaw is DEFINITELY bae. I have a real interest in Kane. His back story was not really explored in this first install. I hope we get to know him more as the series goes on.

The Brothers

That book was so amazing. It had me up all night trying to finish. Fall asleep just to wake up and keep reading. Will they all find love and make it last? I truly believe that opposites do attract!!!!
