Personal Press adjutant of Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.
Von Oven joined the NSDAP and SA in 1931 but left the party in 1932 out of protest of the NSDAP's right turn after the failed Stennes-revolt.
In 1936 he graduated from the Reich's Press School and went to work as a war correspondent covering Legion Condor's activities during the Spanish civil war.
In 1943 he went to work for minister Goebbels. He played a key factor in saving Goebbels during events of the July 20 plot discovering the telephone line was still working.
After the war he moved to Argentine where he lived until his death.
