Loblolly, Loblolly, you’re so tall is a book about the Loblolly trees that are native to the south-eastern USA. Living in the UK and having never heard of these trees before I found reviewing this book quite hard as my interest just wasn’t there.
The book features some amazing artwork and is written in a poetic form. I didn’t really see much of a story going on, more a collection of thoughts about what the trees look like. Whether that was them trying to reach the sky or their trunks looking like birthday candles. It did have a strangely calming effect though.
For those that love nature, this book will be adored. All the illustrations are of these magnificent, tall trees, and having looked at some photos on Google of them I can see how the author thinks they resemble giant candy floss (cotton candy) on sticks or bottle brushes.
Overall, I think this is a beautiful book, whilst I am confident that very few children in the UK will ever have heard of these trees, I’m also sure those that have a love of nature will enjoy learning about them and will adore looks at all the detailing that has gone into the illustrations.
Nature is beautiful, magical and it’s our connection to it that makes life glorious. In Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Tall, Mommy Moo Moo peels back the curtain to reveal the child-like wonder of nature.
From the description of the trees to the wildlife it supports, the story unfolds in easy to read words with bold typeface. Poetic prose, while simple in nature, spoke to my soul. The illustrations, however, are what makes this such a work of art. Each page is illustrated with such detail, it almost looks like a photograph. The whimsical images remind me of a picture book of the Twelve Dancing Princesses I had when I was a young girl. So lifelike, I almost saw the trees move in the breeze and heard the birds sing.
If you’re a nature lover like me, you’re going to want this book. It’s not just for children but for all ages.
Disclaimer: I received a print copy from the author in the hopes I’d review it.

I received a copy of Loblolly, Loblolly, You're So Tall in exchange for a true and honest review. I give this children's novel 5/5 stars. The story is concise and well written. I am not an Arborist, so I had to look up what a Loblolly was, but that didn't take away from my score for the story. The drawings were so well drawn, and the best part of the book. The story was entertaining, and I would recommend the book to school teachers and little children.
In this pure celebration of nature, Loblolly trees take center stage and introduce young listeners to them in a fascinating way.
Every page takes a beautifully done illustration and mixes it with a text nearing poetry. It's not written in rhyme but still takes on an almost musical flare. Loblolly trees cover each page, stretching majestically into the blue sky as various aspects about them are revealed. Sometimes, it's pure beauty. Others, there's a hint a humor and fun. There's even a bit of fantastical magic as a couple fairies appear in the mix... guaranteeing young listeners have something to point out and wonder about.
This book is a wonderful tribute to Loblolly trees and will interest those who have seen them...or those who simply love tales about nature. There were a couple moments, which surprised me—a suddenly repeated line on the end of two pages, and the direct description of what two funnier objects were (which kind of took away the fun, in my opinion). But this read put a smile on my face and leaves a warmth behind, which brings around the desire to simply lean back and watch the profoundness of trees.

I liked the emphasis on the appreciation and reverence for nature. The gorgeous illustrations filled me with both a sense of peace and a quiet joy.
This is a book I would be proud to give to my own child or someone else’s I love. If you’re looking for a gift for a child in your life, pick this little beauty up. I’m sure you won’t regret it.
This enchanting board book covers the loblolly pine which is native to the east coast of North America and is often known as an Indian, pair-coned, pine.
Reading this beautifully illustrated natural world storybook, where fairies dance among the flowers, makes one recognize now is a perfect time to get outside and enjoy a hike through trails where songbirds and small woodland mammals feed on the seeds of these citrus-scented pines.
I received a copy of this book from Jo Calizzi with Business Development at Mommy Moo Moo Board Books.
As a mom and a teacher of young children, I've read a lot of children's books. I was so excited to receive a copy of Loblolly, Loblolly, You're So Tall. This little book enchanted me from the start. The pictures are so beautiful and remind me of beautiful paintings you'd find in a museum or hung on your wall. The lyrical rhymes do make the paintings come alive. Children will love the words and love finding the many animals and little fairies that are spread throughout the pages. I also love the fact that this board book will encourage a love of nature in small children. I think at times we often forget the beautiful country and world that we live in. This book will bring about discussions with little ones about how to keep our world healthy and preserve it for many generations to come. I will be sharing this book in the Fall with my school kids and my future grandchildren. I encourage you to go to Mommy Moo Moo's website to learn more about her mission.
Mommy Moo Moo pens a stunning children's story in Loblolly, Loblolly, You’re So Tall. The story tells a story about the Loblolly pine trees. The story shares the beauty and majesty of these great pine trees, and is perfectly written in a prose that children, and adults alike will enjoy. "You live with lots of other loblollies, the more the merrier." I found the story and the trees themselves very enchanting. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I read this book to my nephew when he was six months old. He loves trees, and this book delivers on this topic with its ode to loblolly pine trees which reside within its beautifully illustrated pages. The text is minimal, and the tone is gentle, providing a relaxing read for very young readers. You can read my full review here: https://laurasbooksandblogs.com/loblo...
The illustrations stand out and bring life to the loblolly trees and will show young readers the value of our being connected and protective of nature. It's a long lasting book because of i's theme and will be a classic to any library.
