Elsa Harik, known professionally as Elsa Marston, is an American author of children's books about the Middle East and North Africa. She died after completing her last book, "I Just Kept Walking."
The Cliffs of Cairo was published in 1981 and is a real gem. The story centers around Tabby, who is an American student living abroad in Egypt because of her dad's job. Tabby gets embroiled in a mystery after buying a wooden ikon in a junk shop. This book is well written, reads like a classic Nancy Drew novel and captures the mystery of the old world. A novel like this could not be written today. This was perfect.
