Desire can be lethal in these two fan-favorite tales

Night of the Blackbird by Heather Graham
Moira Kelly has come home to Boston to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the family pub, but soon confronts an undercurrent of danger as talk turns to politics. She's caught in the clash between the convictions of her new boyfriend and the anger of her old flame, who is unexpectedly in town. When suspicious events at the bar turn into cold-blooded murder, she doesn't know who to trust. There's a conspiracy that threatens to bring forth the violence and hatred of a different time and place, and Moira discovers that a generation is not long enough to soften the desire for revenge.

Fatal Affair by Marie Force
The brutal murder of a senator is just the case Washington, DC, Detective Sergeant Sam Holland needs to salvage her career and confidence. But it gets complicated when Sam has to team up with Nick Cappuano, the senator's friend and chief of staff…and the man Sam had a memorable one-night stand with years earlier. Their chemistry still sizzles, but sleeping with a material witness is a mistake she can't afford—especially when the bodies keep piling up.

Two separate books .. two separate authors

1. Night of the blackbird by Heather Graham.... Moira , a TV personality is guilted into coming back to Boston for the ST. Patrick's day celebration. Her family is IRISH and run an Irish put and the holiday is huge.. her sister comes home and her brother with family also come back. She brings her boyfriend who also works for her and her old boyfriend is also visiting her family for the holiday. There is a murder mystery going on , some Irish politics going on with a possible assignation of an Irish political figure and Moira keeps saying she is not Irish and only an American and she loves her boyfriend but sleeps with her EX????Lots and LOTS going on and hard to keep track of. Pretty decent read but I never understood her brother Patrick and his marriage troubles and what exactly was on his boat and why he was having secret meetings.

2Fatal Affair by Marie Force . A Senator is murdered and the DC cop assigned to his case is coming back to work after a disgrace. The Senators chief of state had a one night fling with the DC cop Sam /Samatha THis is set in the modern era and I found it hard to believe that the Senator with his one night stands was not being trailed by reporters. And I just hate it in a story when there is death / crime going on all around and the 2 main characters can not keep their hand off each other. REAL LIFE... she is supposedly a top cop , she is not going to be sneaking kisses in a murder investigation. But other than that... pretty good story line.. lots of redherrings to keep you guessing on who the murderer is

This is two stories in one. I liked both of the stories, but I liked the one from Marie Force a little better.

Heather Graham's story is about Moira Kelly, who comes from an Irish family that owns a pub in Boston. She gets guilted (gotta love Irish Moms!) into coming home for St Patrick's Day, but finds a way to combine it with filming for her cable show. She's got a new boyfriend to introduce to her family, but finds her old boyfriend there. Throw in Irish Troubles, and some murder and the hunky Danny O'Hara and the fun just keeps on coming! Who does Moira wind up, and who is killing women in the Boston area? There's also an Irish politician trying to keep peace which plays into the paranoia in the pub. I really enjoyed it.

Marie Force's "Fatal Affair" is about the death of a US Senator, his best friend and Chief of State, and a young woman The Chief of State had met 6 years before. Turns out, she's the Detective Sergeant in charge of the case. She thought he never called her back, he called and left messages for her with her roommate at the time, now ex-husband. As the bodies begin to pile up, they find the attraction between them just as strong as it was back then. Will it interfere with her investigation? What kind of trouble could keep them apart? It was great fun!!

There are 2 books in the volume. Night of the Blackbird by Heather Graham is about Moira Kelly who has gone home to Boston to celebrate St. Patricks Day at the family Pub. There is a clash between her old boyfriend and also her new boyfriend. So much action, it was hard to keep it straight at times. There is a murder that happens and its tied to the family and Moira and her family have to gather and get it solved. There is also some betrayal here. Highly recommend this book

Book #2 is Fatal Affair by Marie Force. There is a brutal murser of a senator and is just the kind of case Detective Sergeant Sam Holland needs to salvage her career. She meets up with Nick Cappuano, the senator's friend, with whom Sam had a one night stand with a year earlier. They have to work together to solve this murder. There is a lot of intrigue and passion . Lots of action. Recommend.

Two books in one. The first book by Heather Graham was horrible. 20 pages of action wrapped up in over 400+ pages. Most of the time I spent wondering what the point was. I never would have finished it if there wasn’t another book behind it.
The second book by Marie Force had a better story line although I found the whole love affair between Sam and Nick ridiculous. In fact, Sam’s character was way over the top. What cop could get away with asking sexual questions the way she did without being kicked off the force.
I gave the whole thing 2 stars, but really the first book was no more than a 1. The second, maybe 2 1/2.
Wish I could get my hours back.

Wow! Love both books. The characters took me in. The stories kept me interested. Would love to keep the stories going. In the first book, the family dynamics were awesome and I felt like I was in the pub with the family. In the second book the mystery was great but so was the romantic development between Sam and Nick. This may be my new favorite author

Great book!

I love Heather Graham's writing and this book was no exception. Many people have forgotten how deep the Irish Troubles divided families and friends. This book brings light to the subject. Marie Force where have you been? I devoured this book and hated to put it down!! This is a great beginning to a series. I enjoyed both books and can't wait to read more!
