"The war raged between the Titans and the Olympians." The war was an epic one, pitting two generations of Greek deities against each other for domination of the universe. The war will also rage within the readers' mind - which path to choose, which plot to create, and which fate the characters will meet. This creative Greek mythology book will hook the reader from the first page. It is chock full of excitement that immerses the reader with 3 story paths, 54 "choices" to make, and 20 endings. The reader will be immersed in stories about the Titans, Cronos and Hera, as well as the Olympians, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, and Demeter. My favorite story line is that of Prometheus, a Titan who can see the future. Among the choices the reader makes is whether or not they want him to be an ally or a foe - with or against his brothers. Should he turn his back on his family? The reader decides! Don't like the outcome? Back up and choose differently the next time you read it! I recommend this book for ages 8-10 because it is a fairly simple read. You do not need to be knowledgeable about Greek mythology to enjoy it. Dive in and start making choices! Don't let history dictate the ending, create your own stories! Be the master of the characters' destinies! Giovanna P., Age 10, Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Mensa
Olympians vs. Titans is an interactive "You Choose" book. The stories of the Titans and the Olympians become adventures because the reader chooses which path to take at the end of a segment. In total, there are fifty-four choices and twenty endings. It is interesting to compare the different paths. The final chapter does set the record straight by providing a summary of what exactly did transpire between the deities, according to mythological tradition. In addition, the book's formatting is attractive as are the illustrations.
