This is brilliant if you're looking to understand how to create crewel designs yourself. There are, of course, projects in this book, but what I most love about it is that it's full of tips on how to draw yourself, and also contains various "elements" which you can then combine to create your own designs. I've always admired the way kits look, but never felt drawn to own one myself, because it always felt a bit "Ikea"-ish. If you feel the same way, this book is great for you!
It also has a very well made chapter on stitches, with explanations and well made diagrams.
