All authors in the volume are prominent Canadian scholars and historians that give detailed accounts of the Indian residential schools across Canada and the Aboriginal experience there. Despite the different schools they deal with, all authors of the volume agree that the residential schools were a very traumatizing experience for the Aboriginal students. The general conclusion is that this oppressive system of education through assimilation appeared to be a huge failure.
