Geoffrey Saign’s Sam Green and the WhipEye Great Ones takes yet another wild rollercoaster ride in the latest installment, Drasine. Sam and Jake are now seasoned warriors, but nothing can prepare them for the fight looming on the horizon.

The two are blackmailed into capturing the magical dragon, Drasine, or else Jake dies due to an impossible-to-remove bomb strapped to his arm. The clock is ticking and the race is on for Drasine, the coveted dragon who just so happens to be protected by a magical being that no one has been able to overcome. With Sam and Jake, the impossible often becomes reality.

As the stakes continue to climb even higher, Sam finds herself desperate to save Jake from his looming fate, no matter the cost. But with the feared Evil One seeking out the very dragon that will save Jake, the two can’t decide whom to trust and whom to avoid. With twists and turns and surprises around every corner, the latest addition to this series definitely does not disappoint!

Opinion:
It’s hard to imagine that Drasine could possibly top its predecessors, but somehow it manages to knock them out of the water! With every book continuing to be more exciting and worth the time to read, I could not be more excited to see where this series is headed.

Sam and Jake take the stage once again in the third installment of Sam Green and the WhipEye Great Ones by Geoffrey Saign. When Jake unwillingly has a ticking time bomb attached to his arm at the start of the story, it’s obvious that the characters are in for a whirlwind of action. As Sam and Jake embark to capture the book’s namesake, Drasine, we see the two grow closer but also farther apart as Jake seems to be struggling with something but refuses to tell Sam what’s troubling him. This conflict makes for some excellent character development in the midst of the thundering action revolving around the main characters.

The overall plot was genius and executed perfectly. The characters were marvelous and all had their time in the spotlight. Easy to read and comprehend, the story is simply written but communicates the plot with excellence.

The story is one-hundred percent clean and age appropriate (pre-teen to teen). I cannot stress enough how amazing this series is, and I absolutely recommend it to all fantasy lovers!

Samantha a.k.a Sam & Jake have yet another adventure, but this time far more dangerous than ever before. The monsters are bigger, the stakes are higher and the risks are much more.

Drasine is a golden dragon, whose flames can heal and empower anyone who touches it. That makes her much desirable for everyone who wants power. But she is kidnapped & guarded by a very strong creature, whose power and abilities are unknown to Sam & Jake. Yet they face him and try to rescue Drasine. But once they get there, they understand that the story is very much different than what they’ve been told. Drasine doesn’t want to be rescued and there are much bigger things to worry about.

An interesting character, the Evil One, makes the book truly irresistible, because no one knows who or what it is nor what it’s powers are. There are multiple characters who are accused to be the Evil One. That’s a suspense, a thrilling one too, since it turns out to be one whom you would never suspect.

The author’s creativity and imagination astonishes & awes me. He has created such beautiful scenarios in the land of the Great Ones, Kiraku and has come up with some really badass monsters that are truly evil and powerful. The twists and turns in this book are least expected and makes it more happening than a wild rollercoaster ride!. I just couldn’t put the book down. It has amazing descriptions of animals that I never knew existed and the stunts between the guardians and the baddies are described very well. The book cover is interesting, showing Drasine, her captor, the guardians & their magical staffs.

This is the most interesting book in the Whipeye Chronicles. Though you can still enjoy a good story, even if you are not reading it in the chronological order, I wish to remind that it is not a standalone book and you will need to read the first two books to properly understand the backstory and some characters from those books, mentioned here.

Overall, it’s a powerful, action packed book suitable for both children and adults. I can’t recommend you this book enough. I haven’t read a more happening book of late and all I can think after reading it is “Whoa what a (rollercoaster) ride!. I wish it hadn’t finished”. The way the book ends, the author promises yet another adventure, and thus a fourth book in this series. I just can’t wait to read it! ♥

Sam is feeling a little lonely because Jake is spending less time with her than he used to. It has been almost a year since their last adventure in KiraKu. In that time, Jake and Sam have continued to train to improve their skills as well as learning new ones. As they go on their run and Jake gets out of sight, Sam is attacked by a mysterious hyena that comes out of nowhere. As Jake and Uncle Biggie come to her rescue, a mysterious woman attacks both children and places a time bomb on Jake’s wrist. Before she leaves, she tells them both that they must bring Drasine to Kert in the next 24 hours or Jake will die.

Get ready to go on an unbelievable adventure with Jake, Sam, Uncle Biggie and Charlie as they race against time to find Drasine and free her once and for all. Throughout this journey the kids meet different factions along the way, and try their best to tell friend from foe. Every time they think they finally understand what is happening, something else happens to change their mind. No one knows what the Evil One looks like. They only have a vague idea of his evil and how Drasine’s fire will affect him. With centuries of hiding and other abilities at hand including illusion, Sam, Jake and the gang must do everything they can to free Drasine while discovering the true identity of their enemy.

This book will keep you on your toes trying to find the truth through the lies. A must read!

After almost losing their parents one year earlier, Samantha and her neighbor, Jake – child guardians of the sacred staff, WhipEye –are attacked by new, unknown enemies. The children are instructed to find and deliver Drasine to smugglers within 24 hours. If they fail, they will pay with Jake’s life. On their way to seek out Drasine, Sam and Jake find themselves amongst old friends of KiraKu and, although grateful to return to a place which they affectionately call home, time is against them. They quickly discover that steady alliances are not what they used to be, with each act of betrayal against them hitting hard. Jake and Sam must figure out who they can trust before time runs out. When they finally discover the truth about Drasine, however, they have to make the hardest choice of their lives – to protect the species of an entire planet... or to save a friend’s life.

Geoffrey Saign delivers yet another home run, as the WhipEye Chronicles continue in such spectacular fashion. With a peaceful, yet cautious beginning, the action starts soon after, with each challenge reaching new heights, whilst posing such impossible goals. Some friendly old faces appear in the third installment, along with many new and exciting ones. Geoffrey’s writing style fast-envelops the reader in an intoxicating, thrilling shroud of fun, action, adventure and suspense – all of which leave you on the edge of your seat. Drasine links many characters of past volumes together, ensuring no loose ends remain. Although this is a good thing, I very much look forward to (and am hoping for) the next installment of the WhipEye Chronicles to be released. The friendships between characters are even more inspiring than those of the Harry Potter series, all of which surprise and inspire the reader at every turn. I recommend Drasine and the rest of the WhipEye Chronicles to young readers who love to take adventurous journeys into the unknown.

This book starts with immediate action. The reader is drawn in. The reader continues to be hooked by cliffhangers at the end of chapters.

I would recommend this book for children thirteen and older. There is too much violence and suggested violence for younger readers. The slave band that Jake had to wear gave me nightmares.

Other than that, I enjoyed the book. It came to a satisfying conclusion with a hint of more to come.
