The fun-loving Little Green Dragon pops out of the pages of Anna's bedtime book as she lies fast asleep---taking a ride on her roller skates, dressing up in her doll's clothes, and generally making a mess of things.
The Little Green Dragon Steps Out By: Kalus Baumgart Review By: Hannah Reis
Overall I thought that the book was a well written story line; however, I did think that it was missing something a little more. I was wondering what would happen next in the story and often times found myself puzzled by it. I think that in a children's perspective it is a very fun loving joyful book. The use of a little green dragon adds to the mystical and fantasy theme that is used when a mythical creature is put in a story. The story starts with the little girl reading her favorite bedtime story, then when she falls asleep the little dragon in the book come out. As the dragon starts to adventure her room it makes its way back to the story in the end with some of the little girls objects that are considered fun toys to the dragon.
I think that the overall illustrations of this book was what I enjoyed the most of all. The colorful background and pops of different tones helped make the book appealing. I loved how the small objects became a new world for the dragon and how it tried to communicate with the bear, in which the dragon believed growled. I enjoyed the small pieces of humor that were seen through the text.
The end surprised the little girl to see the new page filled with items she had been familiar with. I don't think this book us anywhere informational, bit it is entertaining for young children and wouldn't be bothered reading it again.
