I enjoyed this book though the start wasn't that great. Audrey is still recovering over the death of her mother when her boss sends her for an audit to his pet place, Audrey is shocked since she generally doesn't do audits but she goes along to Puma Lair.

Her arrival is not good, her car acts up, they guy who was to greet her doesn't and the one who does is not friendly, the only person remotely helpful is Gray who brings her food and some blankets. Audrey sees ghosts of an Indian woman and then there are attempts to scare her, totally fed up she decides to leave but is almost caught in a storm.

Gray is a sculptor and an ex-cop. He help Audrey but tells her not to trust him since he doesn't trust himself, he comes from a family, where men beat up their women so he isn't willing to take a chance. He goes after her to make sure she made it but finds her almost dead due to carbon monoxide poisoning and then someone starts shooting at them.

They take refuge and get close both physically and emotionally but Gray is still not willing to trust himself and tells her to leave. The book was pretty short and a good read.
