This is an outcome of working on different socio-economic studies conducted by Induicus. Thus we would like to acknowledge all of our colleagues and clients who by providing us with an opportunity to understand various facets of India, laid the foundation of this publication. What began as an attempt at 'simplifying the heterogeneity of India' for our own comprehension, has taken the form of the present book.
The information contained in this volume draws from Census of India 2001, various surveys conducted by the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO), various government sources, as well as other socio-econmic literature. Most of the information included is the latest available as on the date of publication. However those interested in further research are encouraged to check the sources that have been referred to for any further updates. Through this volume is designed to be a desk guide, it can also serve as a first-point reference on the Indian socio-economy.
