Hardest to crack boutique owners and style setters, Susan Tabak's has gained entree to Paris secrets known only to a few. She currently resides in New York City with her husband and three children.
This book highlighted several Parisian design stars of late and their likes/dislikes. I don't know what I was expecting. I received this as a gift, so it's not like I purchased it. Maybe this was a bad time in the world economy to be reading about women who make their living selling labels on clothes that look like clothes I could pick up at the local Target. (That's pronounced Tarjay for us "hailbillees" that want to sound French and important) I guess maybe I just don't see the point of buying clothes for a label. There's world hunger. There's political crisis in Darfur. And there are people that do nothing but pride themselves on label knowledge. Hmmm. I guess I'm just not a pretentious label whore...and proud of it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with a human soul or an IQ above Forest Gump's.
My husband accidently ordered the wrong book; I had requested a different book for my birthday. This is the book that showed up. I am pleasantly surprised. I love the simple but clear way this book is written. I love the ideas, comments and locations that the book shares. I think any woman who loves France and loves fashion will love this book. It was a wonderful gift and a great read. A must have before the trip to Paris.....When I hit the lottery I will have Susan Tabak go to Paris with me and help me develop my own Parisian style.....oh a girl can dream.....
