A crackin good read

I really enjoyed this 2nd in the Of God's and Mortals series. As with the first book, the plot has enough twists to keep it interesting but isn't so far out as to stretch the suspension of disbelief beyond breaking point. Pacy, full of complex characters, and very well written. So glad I have already downloaded the last in the trilogy so I can start it immediately.

This work felt a little bit like just filler between the first and third books - which isn't a bad thing, but did make it less interesting than I found the first book. As the characters were already established there was much less character development in this work and the dialogue felt a little flat. However, some of the lore of the gods was explored in more detail which was fascinating. Overall, a good read.

Sometimes the second book in a three book series feels like a waste of time. Whom the Gods Hate manages to feel like it's telling a story of its own while still advancing the plot of the overall story arc. I'm interested in finding out how all the new gods/old gods/dragons/and mortals drama plays out in the final book.

I loved the dual storylines and the various characters each group entailed. Lots of different personalities and perspectives which made for a humorous or thought provoking encounters. The Karmen was particularly entertaining and scary. The world building was well done as was the character development. I look forward to reading the final installment to see how things come together for a everyone.

Great 2nd instalment. I thought I might read something else before reading the 3rd book...No chance of that! I highly recommend this series!
