The Prophet's Secret

Josh saw the door slowly open and a shadow-like gun barrel appeared on the door sill. His mind screamed, Gun!, and all the Special Ops training he tried so long to forget was back in every nerve cell of his body. He was only a few feet from the door, and his instincts sent him flying in that direction as he grabbed a large book from a nearby stack. As his shoulder crashed into the door, he brought the book down on the wrist trapped between door and jamb just as the gun went off.
