Teaching little ones that Jesus was once a baby just like they were is one of the first ways that we introduce Him to our children. It's a concept that Doris Rikkers has made just a bit easier to teach in her delightful new book Little Jesus, Little Me.

She begins with stating that "Jesus was a little baby . . .just like me." And then takes the reader on a journey of milestones like learning to walk, being rocked to sleep, and reading. In each event she tells the reader (your little one) that Jesus did these same things just like they do.

I know this is a very simplistic book but I think it is very valuable in setting the stage for our children to grasp what John 1:14 tells us. "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." It's a humbling thought the older you get but as a little one it's important to know that Jesus came into this world the same way they did and did the same everyday things that they do.

Lizzie Walkley's illustrations are just adorable. I love the sweet little children that she's drawn. Their innocent delight just leaps off the page.

I recommend this simple little book to anyone that is beginning to introduce their little ones to Jesus.

My Review:

Little Jesus, Little Me is such a sweet little board book perfect for small hands and a precious heart. It has the makings of a good book based on its message and how well it flows. The author did really good with a general consensus that Jesus was little just like me. And he liked and did the same things I did when he was little.

I love the illustrations that are so precious and childlike. They are very muted and not overdone. Perfect little book for ages 4-8.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.

Little Jesus, Little Me is a great way to introduce your child to the concept of Jesus being just them, fully human, while being God’s Son. I loved the parallel illustrations — the left hand page depicting Jesus and the right hand page depicting children of all races — showing how similar contemporary children are to Jesus who live long ago. Simple illustrations in muted colors are just right for the littlest reader. Perfect for bedtime, Little Jesus, Little Me will be an often requested book by your child or grandchild.

Recommended.

Audience: preschoolers.
