Owen's is a photographer who caught onto the trend of documenting a swath of working folk, in this book, near the town of Livermore, California. While it has captions for nearly all photos which uses the words of the subjects to relate their jobs, I'm chagrined to find a few photos of black people without captions or explanation, despite what they are depicted as doing is, indeed more, interesting than what the other people are up to.
Since the time of this book's publication, Owen has gone on to do more books, but is widely known for organizing a distillers and brewers association at just the right time to hit the craft-makers market.
