Sci-fi classic in which a small Arizona town is terrorized by a giant tarantula. A highly simplified adaptation of the movie, designed for elementary school kids.

The title page states that the book was "adapted from a screenplay by Garrett Fort," but the LoC cataloging data on the copyright page states that it was "adapted from a screenplay by Martin Berkeley." Both IMdB and the AFI Catalog credit the film's screenplay to both Berkeley & Robert M. Fresco.

I remember that Jack Arnold movie quite well from childhood days. In this adaption we live through the horrors again in great black and white movie stills: the tarantula escapes, something eats the cattle, more trouble at the lab, a cruel and deadly enemy, the final battle. Well, this movie kept me on the edge of the seat back then and I still love it. Highly recommended!
