Love and Loss #2

The Presence of Grace

Devon Roberts was familiar with loss. He'd lost his wife and, in a way, he'd lost himself. Moving through life with two kids, doing everything he could to make life good again for his son and daughter, meant romance was the last thing on his mind. Until he saw her. Again. She was the first person to make him feel as though loving someone else wouldn't be wrong. Even though he thought his loss was unbearable, he never could have fathomed she might have had more slip through her fingers. He'd fought before; fought for his family, for his love, and for his life. But her fight, although buried deep and festering within, was a fight he wasn't sure he had the strength to overcome. All he knew for sure was that his life was better in the presence of Grace.

Heartwrenching is just about the only word that can accurately describe The Presence of Grace.

If you've read the synopsis, you will have gathered the basics of the storyline but you need to actually read the book to garner the romance between Grace and Devon and the wonderful relationship that blossoms between Grace and his two children.

The tension between the h and the H is not the greatest, but you do really feel their emotions and their pain in regards to lost family and betrayal. I wanted them to get together from page one but I could see why they were holding back.

The whole book really hits on not just a circumstance of bad luck, but also real tragedy, grief, and heartache. It’s a sweet story about two people letting go of their past and healing emotional wounds. It’s a chick-flick love story where there are two people who are just meant to be together. I loved reading about the characters' struggles to opening up again, and seeing them find their HEA was such a treat!

"Grace, on paper, was perfect. But Grace, pulled apart, examined, identified, classified, quantified, and studied was whatever came after that. Something unnamed, because no one, aside from me, had taken time with her. But I would."

This book comes on the heels of one of my all time favorite reads. Having loved The Absence of Olivia I opened this book with equal parts excitement and trepidation. Would it meet my high expectations? Could I possibly love it as much? The answer was a resounding, heart mending YES! Devon was maybe not my favorite person after reading the first book, but that wasn't through any large faults of his own. That wasn't his story, and he took a side part to Evie and her story. When he finally got his turn to star, it was everything it should be.

There is no real easy for this couple. They both have baggage and heartbreak, they are both broken souls. Anie Michaels has this depth to her dealings with grief, and the process of moving on. It hit me so hard that I was lying in bed crying by the light of my kindle. The plight of a single dad, from not knowing his teenage daughter would want the privacy of a bathroom trashcan, to how to deal with carpools, sick kids, and girl troubles on his own. Grace inserted herself in the family, and became such a vital part of it. I loved the reality of dealing with the children's response to her. There was a scene where they decide as a family to pack up some of the pictures of her, and it ripped my heart.

"Sometimes, surviving came with the heaviest guilt and it came out of nowhere. You were just living your life, trying to move on, and suddenly you realized your wife would no longer be able to sit in the school pickup line and you crumble under a wave of guilt."

It was all so accurate, so poignant that it left me breathless. From grief, pain, and this shining hope that there really is life after, and that these people deserve the chance to live it. This could easily be read as a standalone, but you're tragically missing out if you don't have the experience of reading The Absence of Olivia . These tales make for such a beautiful rendering of life moving on, and love being lasting but the heart ever growing and adapting. ~ George, 5 Stars

Devon and Grace met under unusually emotional circumstances, though they never exchanged names. Grace, an elementary school teacher, is leaving the building after parent-teacher conferences and notices a man  in the midst of a heartbreaking struggle. She learns he's finished a conference regarding his daughter, Ruby, and it's the first one since losing his wife a few months ago. Grace offers condolences and support as much as she can, knowing nothing can ease the man's pain. They part ways shortly afterward, but she still thinks of him from time to time, wondering how he's coping.

Three years later, Devon needs to attend a meeting with his son, Jax’s, teacher regarding his admittance into a program for gifted students. Both he and the teacher are shocked, and feeling a little awkward, as they remember why there's a feeling of familiarity. But as they get to know each other, that is quickly replaced with attraction.

As they spend time together, there are some adjustments as Devon still struggles with losing his wife and raising their children without her and Grace still has some emotional scares from her previous marriage, but they work through them and build a relationship together. But things aren't always easy and uncomplicated, even in books, and they each need time to decide what they truly want and if that's each other.

Will Devon and Grace work through everything and build a future together? Will Devon's children accept Grace's role in their Dad's life and theirs? Will Grace open herself up to love again after what her ex, Jeff, put her through? Is there a HEA for them?

One-click now to follow along as these two, both hesitant to love again for different reasons, realize that the heart wants what it wants and you can't fight fate. Please keep in mind this is book two in the series and book one, The Absence of Olivia, essentially focuses on Devon shortly after losing his wife and the pain he feels. It also includes Evie, his wife's best friend.

Brief summary of Devon and Evie from book one and what bothered me about book two: A week before he met Olivia in college, the woman he would marry, he bumped into Evie. Both were attracted but walked away after exchanging pleasantries. Olivia later introduces him to her best friend...Evie. The whole span of Devon and Olivia's relationship, it was never acted upon, but honestly it still seemed skeevy to me, there was an unresolved attraction between Devon and Evie. (This is how Devon explains it to Grace, though the blurb for book one made it seem as so much more to Evie.) After Olivia passed away, Evie stepped in and helped Devon as he struggled with his grief and being a single dad. One day they kissed. That's it. (If you look at the timeline, I feel it happened after he met Grace the first time.) They realized they were better off as friends and Evie went on to meet the love of her life, Nate. Uncle Nate and Aunt Evie are still a part of the kids' lives, therefore Devon's too. I just think the "romantic" history between Devon and Evie was unnecessary, especially considering, according to one review, he essentially told Evie she was second best compared to Olivia. Ouch! I understand being completely in love with your wife, death won't change that, but again, this all leads me to think it wasn't needed. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was just waiting for Grace and at no point in this book did I feel as if he was viewing her as inferior to Olivia, but the inclusion of Evie, for some reason, lessened my connection to Devon, both as an individual and as part of a couple with Grace. At one point in The Presence of Grace, he even thinks how Evie is a connection to Olivia. No, your kids are a connection to your deceased wife. Evie is Evie.
Maybe if I had read this on another day it wouldn't have bothered me as much, but it did. This in no way detracts from the author's talent, and I did enjoy the story, but I couldn't get as involved as I prefer to be. But please, give this story a chance, maybe you'll feel completely different.

The Presence of Grace is the second book in the Love and Loss series. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading The Absence of Olivia because it is amazing. It will also give you a better understanding of Devon and Evelyn's friendship. It's both beautiful and heartbreaking. I have been reading Annie's books from the very beginning and she is one of my all-time favorite authors and once again she wrote a beautiful story that inspires.

It's been three years since Devon lost his wife Olivia. He also lost a part of himself the day she lost her fight. Since then he has moved to Florida to be closer to his parents so they can spend more time with their grandchildren, Ruby and Jax. It was a big change for the family but it's working. Devon is working for his dad at his hardware store and that gives him a more flexible schedule which is a huge relief for a single parent. He lives for his children and wants the best for them. His love life is not even on the radar until he sees her. Again. The woman that he never thought he would see again. He wishes that she didn't see the first time but maybe it was fate that she was here. She could be the one to make him feel again. To believe that he could love without a guilty heart.

Grace can't believe that Devon is here. In Florida. What are the chances that they would end up in the same town? She has wondered about him and his family since she saw him three years ago. There was something about Devon that made her want to put herself out there again. She hasn't felt this kind of pull to a man in years. Maybe not even then. She has gone through her own heartbreak but nothing like Devon has along with his beautiful children. She wants to open up her heart but they both have more at stake than themselves. She cares for Ruby and Jax and doesn't want to break their hearts if they get attached. What if that isn't even a option? Ruby and Jax might not be ready for their dad to date. Is it worth the risk?

I love that this isn't an instalove story. Grace and Devon felt an attraction but they know that they need to tread lightly. It wasn't love at first sight. It wasn't even lust at first sight. It was hope at first sight. It's been three years since either of them have felt anything for another person. It was like they were waiting for each other. The perfect moment in time to reunite with the person they are suppose to love. They both needed time to heal until that moment. I also loved that his children were very much part of the story. They weren't just in the background. They were right there watching their dad's happiness grow.

Overall...it's a beautiful story. It's one of Anie's more sweeter novels. It's not full of sex but full of heart. Devon is a gentlemen and makes Grace feel very special. Devon is sweet, protective, flirty, and an amazing father. Grace is compassionate, beautiful inside and out, and fun. The children are strong, sweet, and love their dad. It's a wonderful mix.

Quotes:

“I’m willing to live on the wild side for one night if you are,” he said, his smile returning and causing my stomach to flip.

“You say chocolate and I’ll follow you anywhere,” I said with a smile, trying to hide the fact that I was falling desperately for the man right before his eyes.

“There’s more than one?”
“There’s a lot. I find a new reason every day. Sometimes two.”

this is definitely an emotional read. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. This is a story about two people finding love when they didn't think it was possible. In my opinion I would definitely read “the presence of Olivia” first before reading this one. This book has amazing characters an d a very well written story. I cant wait to read more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended

3.5 stars. I think I would have enjoyed this story more if I hadn't read the first book. Knowing the MC in the first book, its hard to reconcile his actions then with the guy in this story. Its like history has been re-written.

Anie Michaels triumphantly delivers a breathtakingly poignant novel of living with loss and learning to love again with Devon and Grace’s story in The Presence of Grace. Filled with the kind of overwhelming emotion and unquestionable chemistry I’ve come to adore from this author, this is one journey you won’t soon forget. From the start, Devon and Grace captivated me with their familiar heartache and inexplicable connection and I found myself instantly invested in their happily ever after. Both having been through the emotional wringer, this couple exemplified the beauty of new beginnings and had me hanging on tight to their rollercoaster ride relationship. Anie Michaels expertly cultivated a beautiful feeling of family with this book that had my heart bursting at the seams and ensured that The Presence of Grace was every bit the second shot at love I desperately hoped Devon would find.

Everything about Devon and Grace set my heart aflutter. Anie Michaels did a phenomenal job developing both characters over the course of the story, utilizing their changing relationship to expose the pain they carried and allowing them to let go and move forward. As individuals, I loved getting to know Devon and Grace. My knowledge of Devon felt limited in The Absence of Olivia, but with this book his personality, values, and incredible capacity for love really took shape and Anie Michaels had me swooning for the sweet single father in no time at all. Grace was the kind of heroine that was easy to connect with and impossible not to love. Her unfailing kindness and stunning spirit really blew me away, especially in light of all she’d endured prior to meeting Devon. Together this couple shared something truly special. Their deep understanding of one another’s vulnerabilities, insecurities, and fears leant itself to the kind of relationship that stands the test of time.

One of the things I’ve come to absolutely adore about this author is her ability to capture the extraordinary power of every day love and The Presence of Grace is the epitome of this practice. This story not only harnesses the raw emotions of loss and living on, but it celebrates the small victories of surviving in the wake of grief. Devon and Grace both experienced losses that made me ache for them, but it was their steadfast support of one another’s healing and their unwavering loyalty to the people left in their lives that had me falling head over heels for this couple. Their love and the learning curve they bravely traversed to nurture it, while far from flawless, was inspiring in both its quiet courage and steady hope. Anie Michaels’ writing is utterly brilliant, capturing each emotional nuance of Devon and Grace’s journey and delivering the kind of love story that lingers well beyond the pages.

Wow! Have you ever read a book where the MALE lead was crying, a soul shattering cry? Well I sure haven’t and my favorite thing about this book was the beginning and there were so many parts that could easily be a favorite. The emotions were dripping from each page and were genuine, true, and heavy. They were absolutely beautiful!

The author has absolutely written another gem. This book, front cover to back cover, is perfection at its finest. The story isn’t quite your normal romance story. Instead of the woman being the “damsel in distress” it features the man as the distressed character. The reason I truly enjoyed this feature is because finally an author chooses to show that men are vulnerable too, they aren’t all tough and growly, and that they can break too. It’s a refreshing take on a love story that can be related easily to real life.

This story isn’t just cut and dry. There are twists to the plot, there are other characters that play a major role in the story, and there are some more demons that have to rear their ugly head before the possibility of a happily ever after can be had. As I’ve mentioned above, this is not your standard romance story, it starts off on a different foot, and continues that way to the last page. The author really put some thought into this story and brought to light some major issues that would arise and the solutions are beautifully written. They flow from page to page, carry you with each word. They are not perfect and they are not black and white.

I don’t think there is any doubt whether or not I loved this story, there is so much more there emotionally that I felt. There is so much more I want to say about this story but it would ruin your experience. Trust me on this; you will want to read this story. Pick up your copy, get yourself a nice drink, a comfy blanket, and get comfortable and be ready to escape into this story.

"My family was stitched together in the most beautiful way, and Grace was the thread that held us all together."

Too bad I didn't realize this was a book 2 before I started reading it. I think getting the background from book 1 would have been good, but I still really enjoyed The Presence of Grace. I guess I will just have to go back and read, The Absence of Olivia, to get the full story. Besides, I wouldn't mind being able to read more about Devon. Just one book with him just isn't enough!

Devon had me hooked from the beginning. I don't know what it is about guys with kids, but they get me every time! I love reading about single men being dad's and loving their children. But in Devon's case, it broke my heart to watch him move on from Olivia. It's always a thin line for me when I read books about the character having to move on after their spouse dies. It has to be the hardest thing to do, and I just want it do be done without the new relationship taking away from the previous relationship. I really feel that Anie Michaels did a beautiful job with the way Devon transitioned from Olivia to Grace. I think the hardest part for me was when the kids were picking what picture to put in their rooms. I couldn't stop crying for them. I think from that point on the tears were falling throughout the rest of the story. One thing I loved was even though the children were missing their mother, they embraced Grace with open arms. I think Devon said it best when he said...

"I had my whole world right in front of me, and everything was beautiful in the presence of Grace."

It really was!

Devon was first introduced and played an important role in The Absence of Olivia. But rest assured that the 5 star story of The Presence of Grace can easily be read as a standalone. Of course in order to optimize this marvellous journey, grab it and enjoy it.

Devon became a widow at a young age. He was not prepared for that, but he needs to fill the role of father/mother to his children. Now this story is fast forwarded 3 years.
Grace is his son's teacher. They connect on so many levels but Grace was left broken by her husbands betrayals. Devon is ready but is she ready?

This is a low angst, heartfelt sweet story that pulled on my heartstrings. Devon is working very hard at being a single parent, he's selfless, protective and just a plain great dad. Of course this is a love story, but Grace doesn't just fall in love with Devon, she loves his children too. The female/mother bond she has with them is just amazing. There is a twist in there that left me smiling. Beautifully written with a seamless plot. The well developed characters that oozed raw emotions and shared a strong bond.

This can be safely read as a standalone because the author gave us enough information from the first story to get the readers caught up. Told in dual POV with an HEA. I strongly encourage reading this story and all of Anie's other books are worth it as well.

5 ALL-THE-FEELS-STARS!
First of all, I think technically you could read this book as a standalone, but I wouldn't recommend it. I highly recommend you read The Absence of Olivia first. Partly due to the fact that you will learn so much about Devon, Evie and his deceased wife Olivia, but mostly because it's just so good you don't want to miss out!

I totally fell in love with Devon in The Absence of Olivia, and my heart was broken for him at the end of that book. My heart just seems to have this affinity to latch onto fictional people who don't get an HEA at the end of the book, so I was so excited when I saw Anie Michaels announce that she was writing this book. And it did NOT disappoint!

I didn't realize until I started reading this book that my heart still had a lot of sadness about what happened in The Absence of Olivia and I still had some emotional healing to do. Devon seems to have progressed much farther than me since I read the last pages of that book. He was sort of my emotional support throughout this story. I cried some sad, nostalgic tears but mostly I cried happy tears because Devon found Grace and found love again. There was a distinct absence of an overwhelming amount of crises and unnecessary drama, which was just fine by me! I reveled in the gentle dramas that unfolded while two perfectly imperfect people came together and found the happiness neither of them thought they would ever find! I would love more stories Devon and Grace, as well as Evie and Nate, because these characters have found themselves a permanent home in my heart!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I have been reading Anie's books ever since she published her first one, and have happily watched her talent and depth grow with each book she writes. She is a writer that sure knows how to get to the deep down feelings in your heart, and draws you into her stories as if you are there! The Presence of Grace (TPOG) is no exception! Technically, this is book 2 in the Love and Loss Series, but each book can easily be read as a stand-alone, as they each are a complete story in itself. I would recommend reading the first book, The Absence of Olivia (TAOO) first, just so you get a deeper feel for the characters.

I'm not going to give you a full description of the story, as that would take away from reading it for yourself. Just know that you are going to find yourself caught up in what it feels like to move on from heartbreak to hope. You've lost the person that was your world and stumble along, doing the best you can for you and your children, never really contemplating that there might be someone else out there for you, when in the blink of an eye, there is a connection with someone new and you find that your heart feels like it starts to beat again.

From there, you get to watch a new relationship grow and blossom. I found it very hard to put this book down and ended up reading it in just over 24 hours. Make sure you put this one on your list to read - SOON!

4.5 stars! ARC review!

If you've read The Absence of Olivia , then you were probably waiting (dying) for Devon's story as much as I was.

In The Absence of Olivia, we met Devon, a recent widow, and his two kids: Jax and Ruby. You do not need to read TAOO, but if you want to get a better understanding of the characters mentioned above then I suggest you do.

I was looking forward to Devon's story and it was definitely worth the wait. It was an emotional read; It had me crying, laughing and smiling.

I won't go into the plot much, but it took time for Devon and Grace to open up to a possibility of love again. Both had suffered in their own way and in some sense felt hopeless at finding love again. But once they took the risk, they helped heal each other.

The only thing I didn't like was that at times, it was too fast paced. I wanted to see some of the scenes played out instead of being told after it had happened. Other than that, it was perfect and sweet.

There is little-to-no drama in this book. Devon was a sweet alpha and wonderful father; Grace was adorable and caring. The secondary characters were awesome. Overall, I loved it and I can't wait for Anie's next book!

***ARC Provided by the Author for an Honest Review***

This is the second book this week for me where I had wished I’d read the prior book first. Although ‘The Presence of Grace’ by Anie Michaels is a standalone, I believe that it would have made the journey you take with Grace and Devon that much more beautiful.

After losing his wife Devon relocates his two children to Florida to be closer to his parents. The three of them settle in nicely, but Devon closes himself off - making his children his priority. When Grace ends up in the same town three years after last seeing Devon she is shocked, but it ignites something inside her.

There is nothing quick about the love story that develops between these two and that’s what makes Anie’s story line an enjoyable read. I loved how the children were integrated into the story so that there was focus on them as well. They may have been secondary characters, but the feel you got as you engrossed yourself further, was that they were a main focus in how the love between Devon and Grace develops.

Such a beautiful story, that will pull at your heart strings regardless of the mood you are in. It’s a book I would highly recommend.

This is a four-star read for me.

I am a Anie Michaels fan. I have enjoyed all of her books and the Presence of Grace is no exception. If you are contemplating reading this book, I highly recommend it. Although it can be read as a stand alone, you will get more out of the story emotionally if you read The Absence of Olivia first. So get both, cuddle up on the couch and enjoy two wonderful stories!

May contain a spoiler.

When I finished the Absence of Olivia, I understood but never fully excepted that Evie couldn't be with Devon. I was hoping that in this book a big gesture of love or a hot long distance affair would take place! So I'll admit that going in to the story I had a chip on my shoulder towards Grace. Not long into the story, I became a true Grace fan and enjoyed reading the courtship between Devon and Grace. The characters were perfect but at the same time flawed in their own way. A bit refreshing was the that they were both so mature and emotionally stable despite dealing with loss. Their reactions and emotions seemed very realistic which for me creates a deeper emotional connection with the character.

Overall, this book is beautifully written, to the point, perfectly developed, and most of all realistic. You can't go wrong with this book. It's beautiful, wonderful and truly enjoyable.

This is an amazing continuation to The Absence Of Olivia!
Devon is a widower raising 2 children alone. Grace is a divorced teacher trying to get over her past. Grace was the first person that ever made Devon feel like he could possibly move on after losing his wife Olivia to cancer. Grace was doubtful that she could ever find anyone that would love her because of her faults. But together they felt complete and at ease.
Devon had his faults in the first book, but in this book you see what a sweet, loving, caring man he has become because of his loss.
Grace is an amazing woman, who after going through the things she has in life has made her self conscious and doubtful of herself. There is only one thing in life that she wants more then anything but has convinced herself it will never happen.
This author always amazes me and leaves me speechless and breathless for a while after reading her books. I always have to sit and think about how to even be able to write a review because at the end I am either crying like a baby or left sitting with my jaw dropped impatiently waiting for the next part in the series.

Devon Roberts was familiar with loss. He’d lost his wife and, in a way, he’d lost himself. Moving through life with two kids, doing everything he could to make life good again for his son and daughter, meant romance was the last thing on his mind.

Until he saw her.

Again.

She was the first person to make him feel as though loving someone else wouldn’t be wrong.

Even though he thought his loss was the greatest, he never could have fathomed she might have had more slip through her fingers.

He’d fought before; fought for his family, for his love, and for his life. But her fight, although buried deep and festering within, was a fight he wasn’t sure he had the strength to overcome.

All he knew for sure was that his life was better in the presence of Grace.

I loved Devon & Grace's story. It was beautifully written! One thing that really struck a cord with me is how real this story was. The emotions were so real! I loved Jax & Ruby in the book! Their characters were perfectly written!!! Another great book Anie!

I've been wanting Devon's story ever since The Absence of Olivia was released! The hot, single dad wasn't always the most lovable character but it was easy to forgive because of his past. The loss of his wife and complete upheaval of his life would cause any man pain and confusion.

I cried at the beginning of this book and it started off on great footing. Devon immediately garners sympathy and Grace is a great heroine from the first time we meet her. A schoolteacher with a past, her gentleness and shy demeanor are an obvious match for Devon and his children.

Overall, this is a sweet story of two people with devastating loss who learn to take chances and love again. There are some sexy times and that is nicely balanced with emotional storyline. The story is a bit predictable and slowed down a few times but I was very happy with the end. The author's writing flows well and there are some very cute moment with the kids. Devon deserves happiness and Grace is the perfect woman to help him get there!

The Presence Of Grace is the second book in the Love and Lose Series. It can also be read as a standalone. However I recommend reading The Absence Of Olivia first. This is Devon and Grace's story. Their story is told in dual point of view, which I love. It gives the story so much more depth. Devon and Grace have both loved and lost. They are drawn together by fate. I fell in love with both of them. In the Absence Of Olivia, Devon was not my favorite person. However, he quickly won my heart in the Presence Of Grace. They made me laugh and they made me cry. This book has everything you expect in a book by Anie Michaels: romance, passion and suspense. I read this book in one day. I could not read fast enough. I am a life long fan of Anie Michaels. I have read all her books so far and plan to read everything she writes in the future.

As an avid reader and a fan of all of Anie Michaels' work, I was more than eager to read The Presence of Grace.
I fell in love with Devon's story in The Absence of Olivia and practically stalked Anie's Facebook hoping for any news of the sequel.

The Presence of Grace is a stand alone novel (but so so much better after reading The Absence of Olivia). It's the next chapter in Devon's story and takes place years after the death of his beloved wife Olivia. This novel is REAL. It will make you feel all of the feels. You will experience the depths of Devon's loss through Anie's brilliant writing. The characters are solidly written and the situations are totally believable. I loved every word. Totally worth the wait!

Where The Absence of Olivia tore out my heart, The Presence of Grace picked it up, dusted it off, and put it back in better shape than before.

One of my favorite books from Anie Michaels is In the Absence of Olivia so I was thrilled when she wrote The Presence of Grace to tell Devon's story.

It is three years since Olivia has passed away and Devon begins a relationship with Grace, his youngest child's teacher.

They both have their own baggage and are working through their demons; Devon overcoming the death of Olivia and Grace a bitter ex.

Loved the story and how Devon and Grace were so honest which each other and how their relationship developed. Also was thrilled to see Evie and how her life has progressed.

This was a very sweet story of two broken souls rebuilding their lives. I look forward to Ms. Michaels next release.

This is the second book in the Love & Loss series & though each book can be read as a standalone I would highly recommend reading The Absence of Olivia to help understand the characters & the back story.

The Absence of Olivia was my favourite Anie Michaels book & I loved Devon's story just as much. The relationship between him & Grace was just amazing & I liked that they didn't rush into a relationship but took the time to get to know each other. There was no need for descriptive steamy sex scenes as the beautiful story pulled me in without the need for it.

Another fantastic story from this very talented author!

Devon was a great father. He had to be. He lost his wife. He had to do what is best for his children. I was sad that he and Evie didn't work out, but he needed to spend the time with his kids, to find out the type of family they would now become. What a twist of fate when he and his sons teacher remember seeing each other in the past.

I don't think there has been a book written by Anie that I haven't been a fan of. This books takes you through the sadness of loss, the health of healing, and the emotional growth of moving forward. Everyone has a past, and sometimes you need to trust your relationship to share and overcome pain. A must read!!

The Presence of Grace is a story about moving on in the face of tragedy. Grace and Devon meet by chance on night and don't encounter each other again for three years, which many would say is fate.

Devon is now a single father of two children and for the first time he is interested in a women for more than a date. Devon begins to date Grace and navigating fatherhood and dating isn't easy.

Grace and Devon have many obstacles but they also have such amazing triumphs that this story will have you laughing and crying all at the same time. This story had everything i love in a book and I know you will enjoy it as well.

In the Presence of Grace we meet Devon and Grace. Devon lost his wife years ago and has made his children his first priority. He cared and loved them with all he can. Finding love again never entered his mind.

Grace thought all her dreams were over. Starting over, she decided to put all her efforts into being a teacher and put all thoughts of love and family aside.

Then one day their lives collide, again, and they decide there might just be something there. But can they give love a chance with so much on the line?

This was an emotionally charged story, with so many feels. So worth the read. Definitely would recommend this book.

Happy reading.

OMG!!!! This book was such an awesome read. I loved everything about it and would read it again. I loved the story of how they first met 3 years ago and the fact that she remembered him. I know this is a stand all book but to get a clear picture you should read the first one.

I loved how Grace was with the kids and was always willing to help with them when needed. They took to her very well for sure. It was also great to read how Devon and Grace grew their relationship also. Awesome job for sure

Where to start.....it wasn't that I disliked Devon in book 1. He was a man who had lost his wife, raising 2 kids and his "reality" was blurred. Here we are 3 years later life has moved on and "reality" isn't as blurred anymore. Grace at some points aggravated me but when I stopped and actually thought about this woman and her situation I realized that maybe she could be this "neurotic" about what I thought were stupid insecurities. Unlike book 1 I didn't cry but I did smile and laugh along with the characters

A chance encounter 3 years before sets the scene for a new encounter. Devon lost his wife to cancer. He is raising his 2 wonderful children and getting through life. Grace is a divorcee. Sometimes the trials that you have been through, is what will lead you to your future.
This book is one off the best. I love the dynamic of Devon and Grace's relationship. The everyday trials that they feel and go through, almost anyone could relate to.
