The victories achieved by the American cause during the period from December 25, 1776 to January 3, 1777 in the war for independence from Great Britain were the product of bold and imaginative leadership on the part of George Washington and his fellow generals, miscalculation by the enemy, and the fortuitous effects of weather as it related to the movement of troops and battlefield conditions. But those storied triumphs were also due to the heroic feats of people less well known to history who remain the “unsung heroes” behind our nation’s struggle for independence during its darkest days.
Since 2014, I have been a historical interpreter at Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA), where I conduct guided tours relating to the "Ten Crucial Days" (TCD) of the American Revolution, the period from December 25, 1776 through January 3, 1777. That's the subject of my TCD trilogy, which includes: "Winning the Ten Crucial Days"--selected as an Honorable Mention for the 2026 Fraunces Tavern Museum Book Award," "The Road to Assunpink Creek," and "Rescuing the Revolution." The TCD is also an integral part of another of my books, "John Haslet's World." And then there's "The Battle of Harlem Heights, 1776," part of the Westholme Small Battles Series, which was accepted into the permanent collection of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.
In addition, I've had 14 articles published in the Journal of the American Revolution since 2021, and have written for other periodicals, such as The Journal of America's Military Past, Concord Magazine, and the Swan Historical Foundation newsletter.
My work as an author, speaker, and historical interpreter at Washington Crossing, and at Princeton Battlefield State Park (NJ) for the Princeton Battlefield Society, has been recognized by the National Society of the Sons of the America Revolution, which awarded me its Bronze Good Citizenship Medal in 2022. I live in Lawrence Township, NJ (known as Maidenhead at the time of the Revolution).

This was an excellent and easy read. What makes this a compelling book is that the story of the "Ten Crucial Days" from the perspective of 10 different people. It gives credit to the soldiers who fought and executed Washington's plan. It provides a unique sense of the history and will undoubtedly teach you something about the war you never knew before.
