When this book arrived in the post yesterday I immediately dropped everything and delved into the fascinating world of Jane Austen. Anyone that knows me knows that I love all things Austen so a fact book about her life and writing is my idea of the perfect book! And with the 200th anniversary of her death today, I knew I wanted to share my thoughts on this special woman who has had such an impact on so many lives without ever realising it.
This informative and fun book spans from her family life when she was born, to her cult status in today's world with fascinating snippets and illustrations on every page. Fashioned as a small hardback gift book (the cover is completely stunning when you are holding it in your hands) that is perfect for your handbag, this book is deceptive as it contains a treasure trove of history and background that will really appeal to every Austen fan out there. I loved getting to know more about the woman herself and her siblings, and how her family spirit and surroundings played into her writing.
AMAZING AND EXTRAORDINARY FACTS JANE AUSTEN by Henriette Heald is a pure delight to read and it will be a book that I will treasure for a long time to come.
*I voluntarily reviewed this book from the Publisher
An engaging and interesting biography of Jane Austen and her legacy - very digestible, and though most of was going over old ground for me, I think it would be a really good introduction to her life for anyone who loves her work and hasn't looked into her life much.
