Here's a most useful book on a little-known aspect of early Mormonism, the Council of Fifty. This Council was Joseph Smith's creation, intended to pave the way for his intended theocratic Kingdom of God on earth, with Smith at its head.
This book is about the Council of 50 which probably very few Mormons know any thing of. I thought it was a good read. My mother in law said I shouldn't be reading books like this. Her brother quickly responded, "Ernie can read anything he wants." (Because he is founded in the scriptures not that I can read "anything" because some things should not be read!)
Badly dated with the publication of the Council of Fifty minutes as part of the Joseph Smith papers. This book is now only valuable for the author’s point-of-view.
