Weave A Resilient Life--Black and White

Rate this book
This book is about the ups and downs of my life. It’s about resilience. About bouncing back from hardships and recovering from the difficulties in life many of us face.

The book is organized by themes. Each chapter is a different phase of my life. I summarize the important meaning I learned from those eleven phases.

I start by writing about my family, beginning in Ukraine, which was then part of Russia. I share the tragedy of my parents’ divorce, my mother’s early death, and my brother’s fight with substance addictions. I describe my experiences with running and how it transformed me. I tell about attending the University of Oregon and working during the summers for the U.S. Forest Service. That’s when I became a mountain man.

Next I write about the Pacific Islands and explain all the wonderful things that happened to me on Guam. I write about our three wonderful children. I take a chapter to talk about my love of basketball and how it affected my family and me. I share my world travels and describe some unique experiences. The next chapter transitions into my twenty years as a U.S. Air Force officer, after which I offer a description of returning to teaching and counseling, finding my purpose in life, and earning a Ph.D. in counselor education.

I finish by sharing the changes to my mind and body as I age—my slow, steady decline. I also describe what I consider to be the secret to life—to always live, love, and laugh. Be resilient, turn negatives into positives, and enjoy every moment. Weave a resilient life.

'Dr. Dale'(aka Dale Weaver, Ph.D), hit a home run with his 1st published book, "Weave a Resilient Life." The story is authentic, easy-to-read with an engaging story-line. The book cover is literally to die-for: the feel is amazing with the slightly raised text print and with its subtle sprinkles. Dr. Dales' authentic personal quotes, at the end, also provide people with hope and direction...which is believable and inspiring because "he's been there, done that."

Inspirational! Best motivational memoir I've ever read. Sure, everyone has their ups and downs, but the author provides lessons he has learned in order to bounce back from the downs. It took me less than 24 hours to read this book because once I picked it up, I could not put it down.
