This gritty and gripping story centres on sexual relations and intimate partner abuse – from the perspective of men who care about women’s pleasure - so it’s not all grim. The author skillfully draws us into the story of two everyday people - Rosa DeAngelo and Tony Prezzi - with details about their lives: their Italian-American families, the retail business, auto mechanics, basketball, teaching and counselling. There is even a hint of magic as Rosa learns how touch therapy can heal people who have been abused, followed by danger when she innocently takes what she’s learned too far. While some scenes are graphic, Costra’s prose is a pleasure to read from start to finish.

A well-written novel! Touch by Casey Costra addresses the serious topic of domestic abuse balanced with a humorous take on love and relationships.

Note: Although this is listed as Book #1 in a series, it is a fully developed story--not a cliffhanger which is one of my pet peeves! I'm looking forward to the next book.
