Rowen's cousin, Rose Greensmith, has been dating Ben Williamson for a while now. He's the Lainswich Chief of Police, a good boyfriend, and an all-around great guy. It was only a matter of time before Rose had dinner with his parents. Rose has high hopes, but Rowen tries to prepare her cousin for the worst. The Williamsons are a difficult bunch. Back when Rowen and Ben were a high school item, it was Mrs. Williamson that put an end to their relationship. She's an absolute witch, and not in the good sense like Rowen and her family are. As fate typically ordains for the Greensmiths, not all goes as planned. During the dinner, Ben's Uncle Willard is poisoned. It's a murder that sets everyone on edge. Emotions are running high and tensions are raised. Can Rose's relationship with Ben survive this ordeal? Mrs. Williamson certainly isn't helping matters. She's distrusted the Greensmiths her whole life, and the Greensmiths certainly don't hold any love for her in return. Things get especially complicated when she starts to look like a likely suspect in the murder of her younger brother. As reluctant as Ben Williamson is to hear anything bad about his own mother, the evidence is piling up against her. Never mind his relationship with Rose, his position as chief of police could be in jeopardy. Rowen takes it upon herself to solve this mystery. Deep down, she doesn't think Mrs. Williamson is to blame-which is really a shame. She can't stand that woman. Sixth Volume of the Lainswich Witches Mystery Series. Approx. 40,000 words in length. It is a standalone (reading prior or future volumes not required to enjoy the book, no cliffhanger).
. This is a cozy, paranormal mystery series. The heroine, Rowen Greensmith, belongs to a family of witches. The townsfolk of Lainswich often hold this against them.
Ben's uncle suddenly died at a family dinner party at Ben's mom's house. Later Ben's aunt was discovered dead hanging in Ben's mom's kitchen. fRose, Rowen, and Eric work diligently together to investigate the mystery of their deaths. After they discover the truth, Rowen and Eric open a private investigation firm because Eric had become bored without his previous duties in the family business. Margot is missing in this installment, since she and David are traveling extensively to prove to his parents that he is committed to reentering their family business.
These books can stand alone, but they make more sense if read in order. They are clean and solve the current mystery, even though the conclusion was rather abrupt. More details and build-up about the town and characters in future installments.
This time Rowen is pulled into a mystery to help Ben, the chief of police (he's also her ex boyfriend and Rose's current boyfriend!). Murders and suicides abound, and all are centred around Ben's mother, who hates all the Greensmiths, including Rose. Rowen needs to solve this as soon as possible and maybe she can persuade Mrs Williamson to change her mind about the Greemsmiths at the same time?
Most family will fight for you to their last breath. They will be there for you when you need one more egg for pancakes in the morning. That will be the Greensmith's. Then there is another type of family members who we will learn more about in this book and revolves around Mrs. Williamson. Let's find out some things about them. Rose came knocking on Rowen and Eric's door late one night and asked if she could spend the night. She was to meet her boyfriend, Ben's, family that evening. It started out with, we do not bring liquor into this house. (Wine poured down the drain.) Next, My Name Is Rose! (She Marched out and slammed the door.) Then for a night that would not end, Ben called and asked if Rose would come back because his Uncle is dead. Ben's family runs into more trouble as the book goes on. Who do they contact with the Ouija board? .... at the seance? .... with the phone call? You can find all these answers and more by being a page turner. I volunteered to review this ARC book using entirely my own opinion.
I should rate them individually but I'm too busy reading them to date them but I've hit my limit of books I can borrow from Kindle Unlimited, so I'm doing it this way so I can return books and go on to books 7 and beyond. I love this series. I find the characters in book funny, quirky, kind and extremely likeable and the stories which can be read as stand alone books or as I'm doing, back to back. They have all been entertaining so far. I will try to go back and write a blurb about each one individually when I've read them all.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Review posted to another site. I really like this series and the author that writes these stories. These books could stand alone, but they are better if read in order. Once I start to read on of her books I have a hard time putting the book down.
Another good book from Raven Snow. It's been a while since I read book 5 but the relationships come back quickly. The twist in the end was very surprising.
I fell in love with these characters and the story just flows making a book you can't put down and enjoy so much your looking for the next one. Great Reading Everyone!
This is a great book; this is the sixth book in the Lainswich Witches series written by Raven Snow. Rowen’s cousin, Rose Greensmith, has been dating Ben Williamson for a while now. He’s the Lainswich Chief of Police, a good boyfriend, and an all-around great guy. She’s an absolute witch, and not in the good sense like Rowen and her family are. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
I enjoyed the story, it was good to catch up with the characters and a decent plot. I just felt it was too short and the ending tied up too easily and neatly, just as I was really getting into it it just seemed to go bumpf..the end and not much witchyness happening so the excitement wasn't there and I missed the aunts dizzy goings on. Still a good, quick read and part of the series.
This particular entry into the Lainswich Witches series seems somehow tentative and scattered. Ms. Snow's writing has been gradually improving with each book a little more skillfully written than the last. This book seems out of character, hasty and scattered.
I like the book a lot. I feel sorry for Rose, buy her family has her back. It is tragic how people can be against other people when they are different.
