This book was an enjoyable way to stop tossing and turning from insomnia during the wee hours of a Sabbath morning. Still, its stories didn't feel quintessentially Adventist. Take out a few details and many things seemed like they could have occurred in any small, relatively conservative Protestant church. Maybe I got that impression because I was raised so conservative and enjoyed debates on the "daily of Daniel 8" from an (absurdly) young age... so talk of baseball (or whatever the game was -- all sports are the same, what matters is how well you can explain the 1843 chart ;) didn't feel familiar. Perhaps the most uniquely Adventist element was Nash's church-school experiences, as I believe Adventists have sustained the church-school-for-a-mere-handful-of-kids model more than other denominations. Basically a fun, but not especially memorable read.
