Jonathan Stark is a mobile and web application consultant who the Wall Street Journal has called an expert on publishing desktop data to the web. He has written two books on web application programming, is a tech editor for both php|architect and Advisor magazines, and is quoted in the media on internet and mobile lifestyle trends. Jonathan began his programming career more than 20 years ago on a Tandy TRS-80 and still thinks Zork was a sweet game.
The point I took home is that if you are quality oriented and fast working guy then hourly billing is truly nuts. Because a fast developer will always finish the work in less timespan. So, now he is on loss.
The best is to discuss with client and come up with agreement on arrangement other than hourly charging.
Very quick read and highly focused on a very simple idea. There are few books who only focus on a simple concept and explain them properly. This is one of those books which doesn't fill 80% of the book with useless fluffy content.
