Assuming the escapee has fled across the Texas-Mexico border, Alfredo accepts the fact that an ill-advised visit across the bridge may be his best chance to get the information he needs to help him construct his journalistic masterpiece and, more importantly, to possibly prove a shamed man's innocence. What he finds out on his perilous visit south of the border is much more than he expected, and he soon learns that discovering one's past can often help shape one's future and that sometimes taking a chance is the right thing to do. In this novel, a journalist pursues the story of an escaped fugitive he believes was wrongfully convicted and is surprised by his unlikely findings.

I honestly believe this is one the best books i've read in my entire life. The words, every single detail of the book made it perfect. I felt connected with all the characters, and it felt good to be reading it and imagining that I was there. The way Iris found her dad reminded me of the day I met my dad for the first time, which was nothing like that but I felt sort of the same way she did. I'm so happy I had the opportunity to read this book, and I think everyone should read this book. I cried at the end cause I was really happy with the ending. The author of this book did an amazing job writing it. Congratulations!

Evoking so many emotions, really got immersed in this book and put myself in the shoes of all these characters. The injustice thru out JR's life, truly effects your moral compass. And so scary to realize how the path of our lives can go so wrong. Also many sweet moments as well, the warm and affectionate friendship between Freddy and Iris is very moving. And Oh My Gosh! What a great surprise toward the end, definite tears of joy. This Great Author, has other books I recommend to readers who enjoy heartwarming stories. "Through You" and "The Vacant Space" it's just fun getting lost in books.
