Ember Lane #1

First and Only

Rate this book
Ember Lane made a terrible mistake. She trusted the wrong man and ended up inside a supernatural detainment unit. Offered the chance to earn her freedom, she joins the First and Only team. The terms of her contract are simple. One mission, one chance at redemption. Success means all charges are dropped. Forced to ally with other criminal supernatural creatures, Ember must retrieve a precious stone. She knows the rules - no attachments & no personal vendettas - but with a surly but sexy handler, and a charming but untrustworthy demon to contend with, redemption comes at a higher cost than she initially realised. Because it's called the First and Only team for a reason... ...not many of the supernatural recruits make it back from their first mission alive. Note from the Author..... FIRST AND ONLY features Ember Lane, a character from my Kari Stillwell series. While it may be beneficial to have read those books first, it is not essential. This novel takes Ember away from that world and into her own adventure but does reference events from other stories. FIRST AND ONLY is intended for a mature audience as it contains content which includes violence, sex and strong language.

I always dreamed of being an author and as an 80's child was inspired by the likes of Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone and Angela Lansbury in Murder, She Wrote (so much so that when I was 10, I pestered my parents for a typewriter which I used to carry around in case inspiration struck -thank goodness for the invention of lighter writing tools).

I love reading as much as I love writing, and never thought I'd make the switch to e-books but have to admit that I've been converted by their ease of access and portability. I love discovering a new author and have an obsession with reading their books in publication date order. I especially like romantic thrillers and urban fantasy novels.

I live in Essex, England and have two children. I love all things Superhero and think "Geek is Chic"

Trust

Fast paced action keeps you on the edge of your seat second guessing everyone and everything. Just who are the good guys and who are evil. As the plot plays out you know that there is no easy answer. It seems that everyone has something to hide, nor is anyone innocent. The characters are awesome the plot is entertaining, and you find yourself falling for the bad as well as the good.

Good read

If the the end of a tale makes you wonder what happens next, don't start this series! Fine writing style keeps the flow moving. Great job of writing!
