Here's all the information you need to begin painting with acrylics--the most exciting, versatile medium available. The basic techniques are easy--stippling, blending, glazing, masking, and wet-in-wet. Over a dozen mini-demos illustrate how to paint flowers, clouds, shadows, water and more! You'll soon be creating some extraordinary paintings. Author Jacqueline Penney will show you how, with a relaxed, informative style that transports you from the shores of a dune-swept beach to a tropical lagoon. Try all five of her complete, step-by-step demonstrations, including a flower-covered mountainside, sand dunes and sailboats, a forest of spruce trees and ferns, a tranquil island hideaway and a mist-shrouded ocean. You'll find that painting with acrylics is easy--and extraordinary!
This supposed how-to book on acrylic painting is more a platform for promoting Jacqueline's art and expertise than anything else. The step-by-step lessons leave much out and are not suitable for the beginner although it certainly highlights Ms. Penney's skillz. In any case, this book provides some inspiration for what you could accomplish after years and years of practice, if you're not thoroughly discouraged when you try to attempt what she can do straight away.
This is a remarkable book. At this point I haven't read the whole thing, but I could easily recommend it to anyone who is a more or less beginner who wants to start painting with acrylics.
I'm not an artist and I don't paint, but I've done crafts and needlework for years. This book is enough of a beginner book for me. I'm not sure if it would work as well for a true beginner.
