The untold love story of Nicole Sutherland and Darcy Higgins... At the age of thirteen I fell in love with my brother's best friend. We were a mess from the start. Who falls in love at thirteen? Not to mention the fact that as the only daughter to the Sutherland empire, I would never be allowed to love anyone. Like any girl being told what to do, I rebelled. But being a Sutherland, I rebelled with style, and nearly ended my life. Lucky me for me Darcy Higgins was there to save me. We're all wrong for each other from our age difference to our stations in life, yet somehow I keep winding back in his arms. Our lives keep intersecting. And, maybe most importantly, no one else cares about me the way Darcy does. I love him. I hate him. And I don't think I want to live without him, but I'm not sure any love can survive the mountains of secrets and lies that stand in our way, not even a love as strong as ours.
Alexis Anne writes page-turning romances that will leave you breathless and wanting for another happily ever after. Her new book KING OF WANDS is available now!
Fast. Volatile. Gorgeous. Those are the words they used to describe Kingston Reynolds on the first day of my internship. Well, it wasn’t so much of a description as it was a warning. Do not fraternize with the drivers if you want to keep your job.
“My very first Alexis Anne book and now I'm wondering what I've been waiting for. It was a real page turner!! Gripping, edgy and very exciting.” --Tish Cocktails and Fairytales
This book was good, but the story was covered in other books. Nicole and Higgins just didn't leave me wanting more from their characters. I will say I enjoyed the romantic side of Higgins in this book.
4.5 Stars - Darcy and Nicki's story was everything I'd hoped it would be. These two were perfectly flawed and truly damaged by their parents and shared history. Nicki especially; the torment and control exuded over her by her father was horrific. It's no wonder she struggled so much with trusting herself. I loved watching both of them grow and heal from the invisible scars that marred their souls, ones that were forever connected no matter the time or distance. The only negative comment is that Nicki spent too much time denying herself and Darcy the happiness they could have had all those years she pushed him away.
As other reviewers have stated, there was a lot of their story that was included in Theo and Allison's book. However, I found it important to restate some of the shared elements so it could be a standalone. There wasn't anything that was repeated that wasn't essential to Darcy and Nicki's story, and we get to experience everything through their eyes. As an alternative, the author could have combined the two stories giving us multiple points of view. It would have been long, but there wouldn't have been any redundancy.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.
This one was my favorite of the Tease series. Their love was strong and lasted through the years although they were apart through most of them. They never were truly of each other’s lives. This one was definitely the “darker” of the stories but yet I felt attached to them. My heart hurt for them and everything that stood in their way.
I am now on pure steam to propel me to finish all the 8 books. It is beginning to feel like torture. Note to self, just because the first book is great, it doesn't mean the other books in the series will be equally magnificent. Lesson learnt.
Darcy and Nicole finally get to tell the whole of their story, it was good to have all the missing pieces filled in but would have done better as a novella as much was covered in other books.
I loved it! The untold story of Nicole Sutherland and Darcy Higgins is incredible! This book gives so much more insight into the Sutherland family and all their dynamics and all the evil that hides within. Nicole and Darcy both have a ton of baggage from their horrible childhoods, and their issues keep them apart for years. But they've loved each other ever since they laid eyes on one another, and eventually they find their way back to each other as they finally eradicate the evil that plagues the Sutherland family. A great book! I love Theo Sutherland and now I love Darcy Higgins too!
I found it hard to finish this book as it felt like this story had already been told in part in book 3 in Alison & Theo's tale - I think I would have preferred it if this was a 2.5 or 3.5 rather than the 6th book in the series.
But for those wondering, Dary Higgins and Nicole Sutherland finally get their full story told and it goes through the course of a 10 year period. I wouldn't read it in order only on this book.
