this continues right where the 3rd volume left off from. this volume mostly comprises of tokiwa's pov, with some shion and shou's povs sprinkled about. i won't talk about the plot since hello, spoilers, so i'll just tell you my overall impressions.
this volume was amazeballs from beginning to end. majority takes place in headquarters where tokiwa got transferred to, so you don't get that typical "school-setting" atmosphere here. despite the 4/5 rating, this is by far my favorite volume so far, and it's mainly because of the addition of shion (he is an excellent character with a tragic past... and well, still tragic life...). i've been hearing from other people how the series tends to lag a bit once you get to the middle of it, and i can totes understand that now. it's not bad per se, but practically half of the book takes place in THE SAME EVENING and a part of me when reading this wanted to shout out OK ENOUGH ALREADY LET'S MOVE ON. maybe i'm just impatient asf but i felt like i was level grinding in a game when reading about the characters trying to get to point A to point B and then to point C. like, i just want to get to point C. screw the monsters, the trolls, the drama, the lake filled with alligators, like C'MON!! POINT C!!! (for the people who lack sarcasm, NO THERE ARE NO MONSTERS OR ALLIGATORS SWIMMING ABOUT IN A LAKE LIKE C'MON)
and just when i finally, oh sweet baby jeezus FINALLY get to point C, THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS VOLUME, THE VOLUME IS... IS....... OVER /FACEPALM
i got volume 5 in my hand so it's okay. i just better get my sweet sexy time that i've been anticipating since the 2nd half of the 3rd volume pretty effin soon. i guess with the minor issues i've had with this volume, my entertainment level was way higher. shou's dedication towards tokiwa had me form actual tears in my eyes, like wtf. fuuga finally shaved that hideous facial hair so thank god for that. he def leveled up in so many ways this volume, it kind of blew me away. tokiwa still de best. shion's povs when you get to it... prepare de kokoro is all i'm sayin. still many questions not answered unfortunately, but hopefully by the time i finish vol 7 it'll be mostly, if not all, answered.
this is an excellent series, and if you made it this far, just know you're in for quite a ride in this volume.
