I received an ARC for writing this honest review. I did read the entire book and was looking forward to seeing how everything played out. However, the further into the book I got the more irritated I became with Hannah. How much more selfish could she be? It is through her actions and immaturity that cause all the grief. She wanted to be seen as an adult so she goes and acts like a 16 year old? I think I would have turned my back on her and told her to suffer on her own. All in all, not one of my favorite reads.
Both the hero and the heroine are quite immature in this story. The things they do and say do not say adult to me.There are times that they are violent with one another. I really just do not like these two characters and therefore, I was not able to connect to them or to this story. Add in the parents and the story did not work for me.Unfortunately, this story was just not for me. I voluntarily received an ARC of this book.
This book was an ARC for an honest review. Bentley was an arse in the beginning and Hannah young and gullible. The sex in the story is steamy but repetitive and I started to skip the sex scenes. Hannah's reaction to Bentley saving her from her father seemed unbelievable but maybe some young people would react in this manner. Don't want to give the story away. In all enjoyed the story but felt the plot unbelievable and concentrated more on sex and lust.
So many errors... things that just don't make sense - a 23 yr old college freshman whose parents follow her to school...?!? No explanation to why she is 23 and a freshmen...
There were a lot of other inaccuracies, too (in no particular order other than how quickly my brain can recall):
Hugh officiates the wedding but then a few chapters later Hannah hasn't seen him since the night her father was killed (which was BEFORE the wedding)...; Hugh gets shot that night and no mention of it ever again; No resolution with Hannah's father other than he is a corrupt cop; why Jordan, Bentley's best friend turned against him and was cohorting with corrupt cops (which makes no sense that he never told Hannah's dad she was in the club since he (Jordan) was training her (!!!!!!!!!!!) especially if he is hell bent on taking Bentley down); the sharp pain Hannah feels in her abdomen when she is trying to escape after her parents hold her captive in their home and collapses on the floor (but she cannot call the cops bc her dad is a cop)... not to mention how does her father just pick up and move across the country and start with a new PD and have rank - most important, how does he even have time to become corrupt?????!; Hannah's mother calls when the baby is 6 months old and as Hannah is hanging up says "I have to tell you the reason I called!" and we never learn what that actually was... I know the premise of some biker books is "cops v robbers" but this was too choppy and no real proof (note REAL) the cops were corrupt.
She is 5'5" and Bentley is "massive" but then he is a good foot shorter than her father...! Who is her father?!! A giant?????
Were the sex scenes good? Yes. Great...! But the typos and inaccuracies make this a terrible buy and just pissed me off... not to mention, I felt like the author really has something against cops.
I have to stop now... it just makes me mad...!

First of all let me say I love Heather West's books 99 &1/2% of the time !! Leather and Liquor is that 1/2%. It started out in the mostly believable and then went into the bizarre. I had a hard time staying with this one as the plot just got to hard to even fathom. What MC group goes thru all of the book without ever riding thru the streets of the town? And nowhere on earth could you do the things they did and still stay in the same town! What MC Prez keeps all the bike keys locked up and him with the only key? Sorry this one is just not my cup of tea. I received this book free and I am voluntarily leaving my personal opinion.
I recieved a ARC in leui of a honest reviw. OMG this is the best MC books I've read in a long time . It has everything you could possibly want and more . I totally love this book. And I'm going good to read it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything because it is no stopping action,Sex on a stick, and so much more .I totally recommend this book it's worth its price and so much more ..Way to go Heather West ....keep those great books coming ....LOVED IT....
I voluntary was gifted the ARC for my opinion. I'm not to sure about this book. He just felt like he should not have been running anything. He felt more investment banker than biker lol. This book does have drama and sex. I just wanted more with this book. I didn't care for her at all. And I just didn't feel real connection between the two.
Got to chapter ten and a DNF. Female character is just too annoying and inconsistent. It's not a normal MC way of life and that throws me so sorry but it's a no no from me.
You can't help who you love--Hannah's dad, Officer Kane is extremely over protective & refuses to see that his little girl is now a 23 year old fully capable of making adult decisions & especially ones that involve bikers. Without giving away pieces of a pretty awesome "ride", this book will open your eyes to a range of emotions and the things one will do in the face of love and also in the face of anger and revenge and an anger so seething, a person can't see straight or tell right from wrong. Enjoy the ride, I did.
I received this book for an honest review. I'm sad to say I did not like this book as much as I've liked reading other Heather West books. The first chapters had me re-reading a few sentences because they didn't flow and didn't make sense, as if sentences or final thoughts were missing. I did not like Hannah from the start, her behavior was slutty, the lack of imaturity with her decision to have sex with a man she met 10 minutes before just to "show her parents" she was independent and get back at them for being "parents" was ridiculous, especially since she kept it from them! Even though I liked Bentley more, and found him sexy, since there were quite a few sex scenes, I found that I actually skipped the last few because I didn't care about this couple(I rarely skip the sex scenes). Hannah's character really killed it for me, the way the story tried to justify the violence in the last chapters with her father was low. It was however a quick read.
Hannah goes out with friends and in an effort to get away from her overbearing parents, they enter a bar. But not just any bar, it's a biker's bar where she meets Bentley, the leader of the biker gang. Hannah, soon finds out that college classes and loans are the least of her worries. I found the writing to be good. There were no editing distractions. The story line started out believable but then with Hannah's personality change, from good girl to girlfriend of a criminal, it wasn't as believable a story to me, a person growing up in the corn fields of Indiana. Although, I did like moral decisions that Hannah and Bentley made, I didn't agree with some of their final decisions. The thing about this story line, read by someone in a larger community or another demographics, it could be someone's true life story. *I volunteered to give an honest review of "Leather and Liquor"*
rcvd ARC for a honest review. i can describe this book by one word....intense...and thats an understatement!! we meet Bentley, the new head honcho of the gang, having a drink in his bar when a blonde beauty walks thru the door. hannah, a college student is hell bent on doing something dangerous to get out of her parents overbearing hold on her. her bff says she needs to find a guy and let loose. hannah happens to see the most gorgeous guy she has ever seen and somehow develops gumption while flirting/sassing her way into the club. both Bentley and hannah get more than what they bargain for in the batheoom tryst. there are secrets, lies, betrayal and drama fighting their way to keep hannah and bentley apart. what will happen when the truth comes out?
I voluntarily leaving a review on an Arc of Leather and liquor. Heather West delivers again. I absolutely loved this book. heather West has a real talent for capturing and pulling her readers in from the the start. Bentley is a bad boy biker who is a total bad a$$. Hannah is the good girl who always lived by her parents rules and under their thumb. Bentley and Hannah meet and their chemistry is off the charts. A supposedly one night stand turns into a happily ever after and an adorable baby name Ben.
Leather and Liquor was an ok read for me. It did keep me intrigued but still left me with some questions will certain MC members. The book might have been better if it was broken into two books but it did have some action, rough sex, twists and turns. If the blurb catches your attention and you enjoy MC books then give Leather and Liquor a chance. It's most definitely written different than other MC books.
Heather West is a great author who always puts just the right amount of heat and suspense into each of her books. In this book Hannah and Bentley are thrown together pretty quickly and at first Bentley is an ass but then he softens up. The part about Jordan was quite shocking. Hannah's parents were nuts. Good book
Leather and Liquor was not my favorite work by Heather West. I just felt like the whole book was just to unbelievable, I understand that this is fiction but I feel like what makes good fiction is the believability of the story so the reader can connect and engage in the plot. While I wasn't particularly moved by this book it doesn't mean that you wont be. I received this book as an ARC
Hannah is a college student who is hellbent on rebelling against her overbearing parents. Her father happens to be a cop. She becomes involved with Bentley who runs a group of bikers. Right from the start this book is intense. This book was different from my normal reads and I did enjoy reading it.
I tried reading this book three separate times and could only make it a chapter or two in. I realize that this book is fiction, but it was so unrealistic that I finally got so fed up and just had to quit. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Aarrgggh. I couldn't finish the book. I am sorry. Was this book suppose to take place in the 50's when putting your feet on the table and blowing gum was "a bad boy"? Seriously? The men were weak little boys with no backbones.
just love a good biker book and this was great loved Bentley and Hannah.A super read you wont want to put down.If you like steamy with a side of bad ass this is for you loved it
