Dr. Charles Duncan was born in Pennsylvania and attended and taught school there until 1965, when he moved to Michigan to accept a position as Head of the Department of Business Education, one of five original schools in the College of Business at Eastern Michigan University. He remained a faculty member for the ensuing 19 years, retiring as an emeritus faculty member in 1985. He served four years in the United States Navy during World War II. Dr. Duncan was the author of a successful college textbook and received plaques for six million-dollar sales years. In 1975 he was named Teacher of the Year in the College of Business. The retirement activities that he particularly enjoyed involved delivering cookies at the Huron Woods Retirement Community (“Cookie Man”) and telephoning helpline calls (“Charlie”) at the Alzheimer’s Great Lakes Association.
