This was a book that I was given and so I didn't have a chance to get to study this book before reading it. As a result the only thing that I had to imply of its curious nature was its intriguing title.
The story is cute and whimsical. There is a tone to it that is hard to place although at the same time quite familiar for the reading style of its time. As a result there were parts that were clearly moralistic but at other times a sweet read.
The illustrations were beautifully done and added their own charm to the book. What confused me the most was the fact that the moth and shamrock weren't clearly shown as their own figures in most instances. I am intrigued and yet confused to this, which is mostly the reason why I didn't up the star ranking in the last run.
Otherwise it is a sweet read and one that may attract more to younger readers.
This is a gorgeous book as far as illustrations go and the story is sweet as well. A nice reminder both to see the best in others and to always be on the lookout for beauty in every creation.
