With over 72 sales to her credit since her first publication in 1987, Michigan author Nancy Gideon’s writing career is as versatile as the romance market, itself. Her books encompass genres from historicals and regencies to contemporary suspense and the paranormal. Her works have been published overseas in Romanian, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Danish, German, Icelandic and Chinese, among other languages.

Also listed on the International Movie Database (IMDB), she collaborated on the indie horror films In the Woods and Savage with screenwriting and ADR script credits, and even played the character “Bar Extra.”

A national speaker on writing in general and romance in particular, Gideon is a Western Michigan University honors grad with a major in journalism and minors in history and communications. She’s a member of Novelist, Inc. and the Mid-Michigan, Greater Detroit, PASIC and FF&P chapters of Romance Writers of America®, and is former vice-president, published author co-liaison and award-winning newsletter editor for MMRWA.

The mother of two grown sons, one married and proud producer of her grandson and the other shanghaied into being her occasional assistant, she 's retired from 18 years as a legal assistant.

A prolific writer, Gideon who also writes as Dana Ransom and Lauren Giddings, attributes her creative output, which once peaked at seven novels in one year, to her love of history and a gift for storytelling. She also credits the discipline learned through a background in journalism and scheduling writing time around diaper changes, Scout meetings, band lessons and outings to the Zoo Boo...and, of course, OCD. The due date for her third book and her second son were on the same day...and both were early! When on deadline, she'd turn on the laptop between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. to get a chapter in before work.

While the pace is often hectic, Gideon, a Gemini, enjoys tackling diverse projects. One month it’s researching the gritty existence of 1880’s Texas Rangers only to jump to modern themes of intrigue and possibly a legal thriller or two. Then, it’s back to the shadowy netheworld of shape shifters, vampires and movie serial killers. When not working on her latest plot twist before sunrise, even now that she no longer works 9-5, she enjoys indulging in Netflix, hosting her critique group, and feeding all things fur, fin and fowl. And, of course, reading.

I find it so easy to get lost in the world that Nancy weaves. The House of Terriot spin off from the Moonlight series doesn't disappoint. There is something about these dark, delicious, and damaged princes that grips your heart and won't let go. I was a bit skeptical the Sylvia could be redeemed from the previous books but it was silly of me to doubt Nancy and her masterful writing. I couldn't imagine a more perfectly damaged couple than Sylvia and Turrow. They blend beautifully together to help each other heal and lift each other up. Their chemistry is notable from Chapter 1. I really love her writing and so can not wait to get my hands on Colin's book!

Full review @ Cross My Heart Writings & Reviews

Prince of Honor is the first of four books in the House of Terriot series - a spin-off of Gideon's By Moonlight series. Each book features one of four H.O.T. shape-shifter princes - alike in their allegiance to their king, family, & throne and yet, different in personalities, personal battles, and the persona they present to the public. Four deadly princes with a chip on their shoulders, a battle to win, a throne to protect. Four delicious princes who love fiercely, party hardy, and break hearts.

Prince of Honor is a story about love, loss, redemption, and . . . honor. It features Turow Terriot, the strong, honorable protector, often hidden in the shadows of his more flamboyant brothers - a prince who has pledged to serve his king at any cost - even if it means transporting the woman he has secretly loved for years back to face certain death before his clan. The choice between duty & passion is a difficult one when you're traveling with a desirable, cunning, yet deadly siren whose song resonates in your heart and soul - one who fills your mind with want and need, driving you wild with her scent - one who crawls over your skin and flows through your blood - one who has you howling Mate! Row must choose - his honor & duty to his king and family or the woman who holds his heart in her hand. If he makes the wrong choice, he will pay the ultimate price - his life and the downfall of the throne. Will Sylvia prove worthy of Turow's trust, love, and . . . his mark? Can he trust her to keep her side of a deal that will save & benefit them both? Or will she destroy him - again?

Sylvia Terriot is a survivor - a strong, beautiful, cunning woman who has always done what she needed to do in order to survive - including bed-hopping her way through the House of Terriot princes. Sylvia knows what "they" think and say about her - that she's a cold-hearted b*tch incapable & unworthy of trust & love. If you hear it often enough, it must be true . . . and so, like an award winning actress, Sylvia hides her feelings and plays the part. Now, she's being transported back to face the king and pay for her sins. But Sylvia refuses to meekly accept death and, drawing upon her arsenal of tricks, turns the table on Row. When the opportunity presents itself, will she deny her feelings and walk away leaving him for dead? Or accept his deal knowing she can never again walk away?

Prince of Honor is an intriguing, sexy, sometimes dark read. A tightly woven plot will have you burning through the pages as this story of love, lust, trust, betrayal, and forgiveness plays out. The intense, sizzlin' chemistry between Turow & Sylvia is lethal & flammable - sparks erupting on the pages as both fight to maintain control of the situation - and their own heart. I loved watching both of these characters go toe-to-toe, owning their mistakes, and claiming their happiness. Fans of By Moonlight will love this spin-off! If you've missed reading the By Moonlight series, I highly recommend it and yet, you can easily pick up Prince of Honor and transition right into the series. The House of Terriot princes are H.O.T. and yes, the initials spell HOT which is exactly what you'll be after watching these bad*ss, badboy princes get down & dirty on the dance floor & in the bedroom. Another Page Burner by Nancy Gideon! A Must Read!

My Rating: 5 Dark, Damaged, Deadly, Dirty, Delicious ♥'s

This is how you start a series!

A Prince. A traitor. A blood feud. Mix them all together with healthy doses of drama, intrigue and action, and you have the beginnings of an edge of your seat, roller-coaster of a book.

The Princes of the House of Terriot lead complicated lives dominated by the politics of the present and the ghosts of the past.

Turrow serves his brother, the King, with honour. But when his current assignment is also his personal past, it gets complicated very fast. Sylvia is the woman he has secretly always loved....and a traitor to the House with her own personal demons.

When their very survival depends on a union between them, it further complicates everything.

I loved this book from beginning to end. It grabbed me fast and did not let go until the very end. Turrow is everything you want in a hero and Sylvia's journey from villain to heroine is brilliantly crafted.

I highly recommend this series. And if you haven't read the By Moonlight series yet....what are you waiting for?

Wow, I loved this book. What a splendid start to a spin off series. I loved the By Moonlight series and this continuation was fantabulous. I wasn't sure Gideon could redeem Sylvia, but she did it and did a great job while doing so. Turow was the silent brother, the one who wasn’t much talked about in the previous series, but getting a peek into his head let you know that saying about watching out for the silent ones is again true.
I will just say that you don’t have to have read the previous series to get a hold on what the world is like if you start with this book. But, I’m pretty sure you might want to go back and read the previous series just because this book was a good one.

The strong silent type everyone’s mama always warned them about is Turow. He’s a deadly combination of relentless and unforgiving, and he obeys his King’s orders without question. So when he’s told to bring Sylvia back for clan justice, the woman he’s always secretly loved, you just know that manipulative bad girl on a survival mission from hell is gonna take him on a wild run for her life.

But Turow’s not just any shapeshifter prince, and even Sylvia, caught between a scheming mother and the House of Terriot’s power struggles, isn’t immune to Turow’s quiet loyalty and fierce dignity. Or his love. Oh, never that.

Gideon tears this series open with a bang. Max and Cee-Cee got you ready and ignited your appetite, but these Terriot brothers are so exclusively delicious they’re not even on the menu! If you ever wondered what a cleaner, the bad boy who was sent in to take care of everyone else’s messes did in their spare time, find out here! Turow is one tough Hombre, and it takes a woman as tough-as-nails-been-there as Sylvia to capture, and hold, his heart. The last thing these characters are is cliché and the fast-paced action and emotional banquet laid out here is a paranormal romance lover’s feast! Better get comfortable, because you won’t be leaving until you finish dessert!

In Prince of Shadows and Unleashed by Shadows Gideon painted vivid portraits of the eight unbonded Terriot Princes, so I was surprised that she began her spinoff series House of Terriot with Turow. As the quiet, loyal, full-of-integrity-to-the-core brother, he evoked enormous respect but was too much the strong silent type to evoke a more emotional connection. Pairing him with Sylvia Terriot, villainess in training of Cale’s two-novel story, makes enormous sense. Only a man of his steadfastness, strength and goodness could be the catalyst of redemption for this deeply damaged survivor-at-any-cost woman. It should have worked, and it did kinda, but I just couldn’t care more pages than not. It was a novel to get through before reading Colin, Rico and Kip’s stories. I appreciated Row and Sylvie and their journey, but I was rarely pulled into the story. After reading other reviews listed, I am clearly a minority opinion.

As for the ongoing threat of James (who for some reason has been demoted to second oldest after Wes instead of the reverse listed in Cale’s novels), this novel moves things along, further revealing James in all his psychopathic glory, and that the Terriots have more unknown enemies within their ranks. The Kick problem may be over, but the Terriot clan still has much to fear from within and without.

Hot & Steamy. The lead-off book in the House of Terriot series builds on her By Moonlight series. The reader doesn't have to read the books in order (but it sure helps to catch nuances and tiny clues). Take a loner, add a flamboyant schemer and you get a combustible combination. As usual, Ms Gideon's setting takes on a life of its own. The characters are so well drawn the reader feels as if they might know them or want them for friends (maybe). I read this book (and the rest of the series) when it originally was released. Rereading it brought the same sense of wonder at the fabulous writing.

This is the first book in a spinoff series from Gideon’s Moonlight series. You do not have to have read that series to enjoy it, but you totally should because it is fantabulous. Gideon has a gift of creating relationships with people who are total opposites and making it work. At first I was not sure that Sylvia could be redeemed, but Gideon proved me wrong, her character depictions and their interactions are stellar and you cannot help but become invested in their lives. Besides the hot, hot sexy times, one of the best things to see was Turow working to teach Sylvia how to love. This is a superb start to a new series and I so look forward to the next one.

Prince of Honor
Row, once was the shy prince, teased by his brothers for never kissing a girl…but when his first kiss comes back into his life…this time in chains, Row has to make a choice between his heart and his family. Sylvia had been abused by her mother all of her life. She was reared in her mother’s image to be a trophy wife and led to believe, sex and image could bring about all her mother wanted. After her mother’s death at the hands of the Shifter King, Syl is forced to choose an alliance. Will it be with the man who is more than a shy prince? Or the vicious killer who wants to rule the Shifter world?

Ms. Gideon has a wonderful series set among the streets of Reno, the lights of Vegas and the ghosts of New Orleans. Weaving together her Moonlight series with her Prince series, fans are getting to know a whole new family of Shifters… princes who live and die by a code to protect their family.

I'm totally ok with "villain" characters from previous books getting their happily ever afters (here's looking at you Kaleb Krycheck) but Sylvia nearly ruined this book for me. It was well-written like all of the Moonlight Series, but I really struggled to understand character motivations as the book progressed. Turow was the Terriot prince I thought I'd enjoy most but I felt like it could have been more. Sylvia is on the run after throwing in her lot with James and her evil mother in the previous books. After her capture (before the book begins) Turow is tasked with returning her to their compound for judgement. Fearing she'll be killed she attempts to get away. So far, so good - I can get behind that. What I couldn't get behind is sleeping with Turow to make him tired, then contacting the evil James, letting his men take Turow and beat him nearly to death for two days... before turning right back around and escaping with him. What? Nothing had really changed, she just ... decided to go home after all? So Turow demands she mate with him permanently first. And...she accepts. Also not really sure why. She cares about him at this point and doesn't want to hurt him by being attached to the clan outcast but apparently not enough to not do it. (Her selfishness is sort of a recurring theme in the book). After he falls in love, she spooks and runs again, and then again when she's trying to set things right and at this point I'm sort of over her. She also has slept with every single one of the 12 Terriot princes (like she took each of their virginity) and this was really off putting. Her mother wanted her married to a king but it doesn't really blame her mother for it - instead, it explains how Sylvia knows how to and does use sex as a weapon. She also knows how evil her mother was (even to her) and yet doesn't hate her, gets mad that she was killed by the clan after trying to murder the king previously. I did however, really like Turow - he was honest, kind, sexy, and strong. Just felt like he deserved better. 4 stars

This is book 1 in the House of Terriot series, which is a "By Moonlight" series spin-off. Prince of Honor centers around Turow, who is a Prince in the House of Terriot and one of 12 shape-shifter Terriot brothers. The brothers all have the same father but not necessarily the same mother. Turow has always been in love with Sylvia, who is half-sister to Turow's half-brother, Wesley. No worries though -- no incest here -- Turow and Wes have the same father, but Wes and Sylvia have the same mother only. However, Turow serves the King of his Clan, who is his brother, Cale, and Sylvia has been branded a traitor whom Turow must bring in to face justice.
I enjoyed the story, but I honestly think I would have enjoyed it more had I read the By Moonlight series first and had gotten more of the back story / history. In spite of that, I think I'd like to read more about this family and will most likely read additional books, including the By Moonlight series.
I received an advance reader copy of this book and voluntarily wrote this review.

I'm a big fan of Nancy Gideon's "Moonlight" series, and so was anxious to get my hands on this first book of this spin-off series (note: while I definitely recommend you read Moonlight, you won't be lost if you start the Terriots without that background). My expectations were high, and Nancy did not disappoint!

Prince of Honor is the story of strong, silent Turow (one of the 12 Princes of the Terriot clan) and the woman he's loved since childhood, Sylvia. To say that their relationship is complicated would be a mild understatement. To say that their story is a wild rollercoaster ride would be completely accurate! I love Gideon's writing style - it captivates me from the first chapter and holds me until the last page. Her exploration and development (and redemption, in Sylvia's case) of these characters is masterful and intriguing. This is well worth a read, and I highly recommend!

I think that overall, the story was well written. The characters were impacted by each other's choices and motivated to get to their ending.

This was my first shifter book outside of TS Joyce. I enjoy both authors' works and would recommend both.
