I had it all once…I was popular, a jock, the center of attention in any group, friends that followed me everywhere. I thought I ruled the world, and in my high school I did. Girls threw themselves at me, and I used them knowing they’d never mean anything until I met her…Danielle Reed.
I never planned on liking her or even falling in love, but I did. I fell hard, and I ruined it before it could really begin.
It’s been eight years now. I never thought I’d see her again, but here she is. The thing is, she can’t stand me. She reminds me every chance she gets of what a horrible person I was, and how she hopes I rot in hell. I know it would be simpler to just move on and forget about her, but I can’t. I can’t let her go, and I don’t want to.
Danielle Reed will be mine again. I just need to make her remember. Say You Remember is book 4 in The Witness Series. ***This can be read as a STANDALONE.*** This book contains profanity and graphic sexual encounters. It is intended for adult readers.
Heather D’Agostino is an avid reader turned Bestselling Author of the Contemporary Romance Series The Broken Series, The Shattered Series, The Second Chances Series, The Cook Brothers Series, and Romantic Suspense series The Witness Series.
She attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics.
She currently lives in Central New York with her husband, two children, two dogs, and three cats. When she’s not writing she can usually be found at the dance studio, soccer field, or one of the many other places that she plays ‘Supermom’.
Sweet Jesus. There is a thing in writing called 'continuity.' Now, either a lot of today's writers have no clue about this very important facet of writing a story...or they just think readers are stupid. Both choices are equally irritating - and tell a lot.
But come the f*ck ON. The H loves the h. He has always loved the h. He loved the h in HS without knowing it and has continued to love her in the 10 years since.
Got that? So, how can it be that this example of undying fidelity does not REMEMBER the woman he's always loved when he runs into her? And how did he FORGET that this woman we are supposed to believe he's loved all this time is the very same girl he destroyed a decade earlier to win a stupid wager with his arsehole mates?
And if he loved her back then and continued to love her, did he feel remorse for A)Tricking her, B) Using her, C) Humiliating her and D) rubbing her nose in it? Did he stop being a d*ckbag? Did he swear off other women all those 10 years? Not exactly, no and hell no.
And yet I'm supposed to get behind this story and this couple. Yeah, Ima get right on that.
A few final thoughts...
I will never be able to 'unsee' an unfavourable description of a character when I first meet them on the page. So, a description of crooked glasses, frizzy hair and 'something green stuck in her braces' will NEVER be erased. I will see the heroine in that light forever - or until I forget this book, which will be within the next several hours.
It is not attractive or sexy to picture an H's c*ck bobbing. Not in front of him, not in the water, and not ever in any way. It makes me cringe and want to giggle madly. No bobbing c*cks, please.
Sex under water is described an awful lot by writers who I know have NEVER had sex in water - because why? Because they are writing about having sex in water. Sex in water is not erotic, sexy or even nice. Contrary to popular belief, water is not an effective lubricant and it washes away anything naturally occurring, so the sensation is...well, not great. But hey, if you don't mind your sex organs sticking to one another and you enjoy feeling like you're being reamed out with a splintered hoe handle, knock yerself out, love.
Also, sex in a hot tub = ewww. Sex in a hot tub + no condom + how many others did the same before you? = 😨🤢🤮🤮

What would you do if you had a second chance at the love of your life? If you had the chance to tell that person you love them? If you had the chance to tell that love how sorry you are for breaking their heart? Well, Mason Stone had that opportunity but Danielle “Dani” Reed wanted nothing to do with him ever again.
After years of living it up, Mason feels like there is something missing in his life and that becomes more evident when his past walks in the door. The one thing he wished he could go back and undo was what he did to Dani. Now Fate’s stepping in and giving him that second chance he needs. Dani never got closure on what went down with Mason yet she is determined to not allow that moment define her life.
Yes, Mason has changed, but Dani has no clue until he pursues her to show her the man he has become. I loved his persistence and determination, but he also had a sweet soft side. There were times I thought Dani was just a bit too extreme over her not wanting to have anything to do with Mason, but little by little Mason's kindness won her over.
Things happened that really worked in Mason's benefit and ultimately gave him the second chance he was needing. But the question is, did he show his true colors and intentions with Dani? Did he fess up to what happened with them years ago? You will have to click it to find out if Mason was able take advantage of his second chance to correct his past mistakes. ~ Kara, 4.5 stars
Say You Remember is the 4th book in the “Witness” series by Heather D'Agostino. But it was my first book by this author. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As I had no idea what to expect and the book was introduced to me as “possible to read as standalone” I directly dived into it not checking up on the previous books. I turns out that it was a little difficult for me to understand the dynamics between all the secondary characters I met as I had no idea about their backgrounds.
Therefore it took me a little longer to connect with the leading characters as well. Adding to that fact was also that I could not quite see where Mason was coming from in the beginning. It felt as if Danielle was simply interesting to him because she refused any communication with him. He kept repeating that he wanted to explain himself but at the beginning I could not feel it.
The Now and Then Pov’s helped me to make up my mind in which way I could relate to the characters and after a while I started to get a feeling for the leads. (And this coming from me – a def. NON-Lover of “now and then” chapters).
Danielle was a confusing character for me and I felt her background was not solid at the beginning of the novel – where again the “Now and Then” chapters helped.
Slowly I found my way around the story and in the end I liked it. I believe the biggest obstacle for me was the fact that it did not really feel good to read this as a standalone, yes I agree it worked but I think it works better as a part of that series it as it is meant to be.
But the author’s writing is well developed and you can see she is giving all her characters a lot of attention when she creates them so it is in total a recommendable read.
‘Say You Remember’ by Heather D’ Agostino is the fourth book in the Witness series. It, however, can be read as a stand-alone. I have never read anything by this author before as such I had nothing to make a comparison with. Based on the blurb, however, I was expecting this to be an emotional and entertaining story.
If you had the chance to make amends for mistakes you made in the past would you seize the opportunity or would just let bygones be bygones? Mason Storm, former high school heartthrob, and football player got that chance. The only problem was that Danielle Reed, the woman whom he had wronged eight years ago wants nothing to do with him. How would he get her to hear him out and give him a second chance?
Mason has proven to be a changed person, if only he could convince Danielle of this. She was not making it easy for him to make amends. However, the one thing about Mason that has not changed was his tenacity. He was not willing to lose her again. He was determined to prove to her how much he loved her and how sorry he was about the events that had transpired eight years ago.
Danielle was tough on Mason. I understood how she felt. To be betrayed by the person whom she loved in such a humiliating way. I can understand that such an ordeal would not be easy to get over as such I could relate to her unwillingness to forgive Mason. How can she trust him again? Can her heart be trusted? What proof does she have that he is a changed man?
As you have probably figured out by now this is a story about a second chance at love. I enjoy these types of stories and this book was up my alley. It was told from the POVs of the main characters. I love stories that are written in this fashion as it allows me to see how the story unfolds through their eyes. It helps me to get a feel of what they are experiencing. Another plus for me was the movement between past and present. This allowed me to better relate to the characters. I was privy to the events of their past and what led to them being in their current situation.
The only issue that I had with the story was that I felt that the romance was rushed. After Mason and Danielle resolved their issues mot much time was spent on developing their romance.
‘Say You Remember’ is a beautiful story of second chances, love, healing, and forgiveness. It is a demonstration of how letting go of past hurts will free us to live our lives to the fullest. It also reveals that none of us are perfect and that we all make mistakes. However, what determines our level of growth is how we utilize the lessons learned from these mistakes. Mason’s action proved that he knew what he did was wrong and he had made every effort since then to never repeat it. Dwelling on the past will not secure a better future.
I enjoyed this installment and I would definitely read more from this author.
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and kept me interested in the story. The story has laughs, secrets, second chance at love, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Being Nobody (Witness, #1) Becoming Somebody (Witness #2) Promise Me Tomorrow (Witness #3)
This is Danielle and Mason’s story. Mason regrets on this in his life and that was what happened between him and Danielle. Years later he runs into Danielle. She wants nothing to do with him. He wants a second chance. He is going to have to pull out all the stops in order for her to forgive him. As for a second chance she is sure that is never going to happen. But what happens when the feeling start to come back for the boy you knew who grew into the man before you today. Two different people who at the core is the one you always wanted. Can you really resist? When all the secrets of the past are laid bare will Danielle still want him?
I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
This was a angst filled drama romance story. This story is written in the past and present. So you get to see the background story in between what's happening in the present.
Mason has one regret in his life and that is what happened in high school and what he did to Dani. So when Dani shows up at his job helping his boss with the renovation of the club, this was his chance to make everything right and to also maybe get a second chance with the one women he has loved even though he couldn't admit it before
Dani never ever wanted to see Mason ever again, after everything he did to her. All she wanted was to do her job and maybe find some love in the process.
But Mason is determined to speak to her determined to apologize and determined to win her back. But will Dani be able to forgive and forget
Just what I needed, total Romantic Second Chance Love Story
One thing I usually struggle with a don't like in a book is when it goes from present to past. I don't know why as I know it helps you with their story, I just find that I don't like it in most cases. Although this story does that I actually didn't mind and I managed to get more of a connection to the characters because of this.
This is all about second chances and about Dani and Mason and what happens when your past comes back. When Mason see's Dani again he tries to make her see that he's changed but shes not interested. This then leads to an emotional journey and a lot of hurdles to overcome.
Teenage boys are dumb plain and simple. Full of arrogance and hormones. Never thinking of the consequences of their dumb bets. This is a story of such arrogance. A bet that turned into more but destroyed a quiet soul in the process. It’s a story that shows the consequences of his actions. The story of Mason and Dani will make you mad and possibly give you hope that people can change.
Mason approached Dani at school about going to the Homecoming Dance with him. She doesn’t know that it’s all part of a bet between his football buddies to bag a virgin for HoCo. The weeks leading up to the dance Mason woos Dani and really starts to fall for her and she does as well. She’s cautious but feels that Mason is really showing her who he truly is outside of football and being popular. She knows she’s not his type, but she falls hard. Then the unthinkable happens and hearts are shattered. Fast forward to them being adults. He works as a bouncer at a bar and she helps struggling businesses expand. They see each other again and at first Mason isn’t sure who she is. When he finds out he sets out to explain himself to her she shuts him down. Over the course of her job at The Rusty Nail Mason tries to make her see how he’s changed and slowly chips away at Dani’s wall. It’s messy and complicated and full of revelations.
I kind of became frustrated at times with Dani. I understand her reluctance, but she annoyed me with how irrational she acted at times. Just let the man talk and then you can move on. I don’t agree with what Mason did, but he deserved to tell his story. I just wanted to shake her and say listen for five darn seconds woman. Jenni’s story made my heart sad. As a mother of a girl I hope she never encounters guys like this. I know it’s inevitable. This book isn’t all dodging and refusing to be adults about it it has it’s sweet tender moments. All in all a pretty good book.
Loving this second chance romance! Mason and Danielle met in high school, and after a dare of sorts, Mason leads Danielle on and then essentially ghosts her. Pivotal at her age, it leaves a lasting mark on Danielle, and in some ways also on Mason. Years later, Danielle returns to her hometown and at her first job ends up running into Mason. Things have changed for Mason and he’s always regretted how he treated Danielle and realized after it was too late that he actually had feelings for and cared for her. When he runs into her, he takes it as a second chance, and starts to do anything and everything he can to get her to talk to him to explain his side of things from back in high school. With a little help from his sister, Mason finally gets his chance to not only talk to Danielle but attempt to win her back, and thankfully while Danielle was deeply affected, she still harbored those same feelings from before and decided to give him a shot. Loved this couple and can’t wait to read more from this group! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A great story that includes devastating heartbreak, love, loss, bullying friendships and so much more.
Danielle was a “nerd” and never expected to catch the attention of her high school’s football tram’s QB. Mason is the QB on the football team and of course one of the “populars”.
One cocky and ego boosted decision changes both of their lives forever!
He wasn’t suppose to like her, much less fall in love with her. Years later after one fateful night involving his little sister he realizes how wrong his choice and action really were. And how his cockiness and foolish selfishness cost him so much - the feelings he through away to “safe face”, and the damage his choices could and possibly have cause Danielle.
He has regrets and want to apologize. She thought she had moved on but quickly realizes how wrong she was once she’s face to face with the man that ripped her heart out all those years ago.
It's amazing that D'AGOSTINO gets and can write about what teenage boys can do to a girl's head and heart. I can so see why Dani would want nothing to do with Mason after what happened in high school. D'AGOSTINO does a great job of showing us how much he has changed since then, how much that one act changed his life. None of us are the same as we were in high school, but at the same time we are. Mason and Dani show us that and do it beautifully. I love this series, can't wait for more, and I hope that Mason's sister gets her HEA too.
This is the 4th book in this series, and is Mason and Danielle’s story. After 8 years Danielle is back in town, and Mason is convinced her to take a 2nd chance on him. This is a good story which is emotional, and with relatable characters. I was intrigued throughout and recommend for all.
Mason Stone was the popular star quarterback in High School, and thought he ruled the world. There was no shortage of girls that threw themselves at him, and he took advantage of that. When his friends threw a bet his way, he agreed, but never counted on actually liking the girl, Danielle. As he spent time with her, he found himself falling hard, but he still went along when his friends pressured him, destroying her heart in the process. Three years later, a situation came up that showed him how awful he truly was, and it changed Mason for the better. But he never stopped thinking about Dani. Danielle Reed has become a knockout, and successful woman. When she decided to move to be close to her parents, her boss promoted her to corner the Chicago market. She never thought she would run into the boy who decimated her heart, but the first night home, she went to the club that she is working with, and there he is. All of those feelings that were never fixed, rushed to the surface, and she quickly lets him know about it, especially since he didn't recognize her. Danielle wants him to leave her alone, Mason will stop at nothing to apologize to her. And he's decided that she will be his again. Now all he has to do is convince her to forgive, and give him another chance.
WOW WOW WOW! I want to write an eloquent review, but I cannot lie, my dramatic girly girl emotions are flying everywhere. So be warned, not sure what will come out. The character development is great, with an entertaining cast of secondaries that gave a wonderful break from the angst threatening to choke me. They also added some serious well placed humor that had me laughing despite the lump in my throat. Heather D'Agostino's brilliant writing style, once again, struck gold with me. I was instantly captivated from the beginning, and never took a break, until the very end. The way she showed the flashbacks slowly, only made it more powerful, and frankly, more intense. Mason and Danielle were amazing characters that belonged together, but it was hard for me to forgive Mason, so her feelings, in all of their extreme glory, were totally on target realistically. I'm exhausted now because every emotion was pulled out of me in such a short time. Please don't let my dramatic girly girl side detour you from reading this amazing story, because as far as I'm concerned, when a book takes me through this kind of emotional journey, well, I just can't help but HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY and HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO ALL!
Check out this review and others at www.Twinsietalk.com www.Facebook.com/Twinsietalk www.Twitter.com/Twinsietalk www.Tsu.co/Twinsietalk Newsletter : http://eepurl.com/brwkPv Say you Remember by H.D’Agostino I received this book from the author for an honest review. EEEP!! Mason!! When we finished Jase and Tiff’s book we got knocked on our butt by a very angry chick. She was angry at our Mason. I mean Mason is awesome people so why is she mad?? OH boy when we find out…yeah Mason is not a favorite person of mine!! LOL I was high 5’ing Dani and screaming GIRL POWER!!! Mason is our fun loving-Didn’t get the girl-Bouncer who we fall in love with. He has broken up with his girlfriend and is looking for love. He thinks Tiff might be that chick but she falls for Jase. SO again we are kind cheering him on in the love department. When Dani comes and their backstory is told, I really didn’t like Mason. Dani and he met in High School and she was a ….well a….ugh I can’t even begin to tell you what she was to him!! I love how the story was told in flashbacks so we would see glimpses of the Dani/Mason love connection. Mason DESTROYED Dani and she has never gotten over it. She loves him with her whole heart and he stomped on it and then walked away….not cool Mason!!! Mason was in the Cool crown and the guys he hung out with …well…. not awesome guys but self-absorbed asshats!! When Mason ends up falling in love with Dani but knows that he can never be with her because his cool friends will make sure she is aware of WHY he even dated her to begin with. Mason walks way and keeps making douche decisions until……well something happens in his life that makes him reevaluate his life choices. When Mason sees Dani he is all for 2nd chances. He needs her to forgive him but to maybe hope her heart opens to him again. I love seeing Mason get served humble pie by Dani but he wouldn’t give up. Mason knows that Dani is it for him. Boy oh boy does she make him work for it too!!! Holy Smokes…JEFF!! He is the 3rd part of the love triangle in this story. I am so excited for his book.
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN…. 2am and Mr. Sandman was knocking on my door but I wasn’t answering – I needed to finish this book! This was my book to read of Heather’s, it did not disappoint at all! In fact I am ready to read the first three books in this series. However this book can TOTALLY standalone. I love the way the author tells the story. It makes you feel like you are living the moments with the characters from past to present. The book is about second chance love, but it is also about recovering and growing up. Dani is a smart girl, moving back home was what see needed. She just didn’t realize after moving home her life with be flipped upside down after one encounter from her first true love. The thing about first true love, it usually ends BADLY. Dani’s did! She has recovered but that one encounter brought back a flood of memories. Masen is a total hottie. He has life going in the direction it needs to be now after a lot of hurt and pain. He finally feels like he may see the light at the end of the tunnel. Masen’s past is a constant reminder every day. Till the day Dani walks into the bar. He is automatically drawn to her. However, he doesn’t know why till later. The author takes her time in telling the story of how and why Dani and Masen have such a love/hate relationship. I loved every word of the back story. However when the back story is done, I was ready to see what the future held for Dani and Masen. The future is hard to see when you can’t forget the past. Can forgiveness make you forget the hurt? Can love stand the test of time? Can pain be removed? Can you still love your first love like you did so many years ago? This book gives you all the great feels and breaks your heart…. I will just say this and let it linger….. My heart isn’t broke for Dani and Masen!
Danielle Reed has just moved back to Chicago when she runs into the one person she hoped she would never see again - Mason Stone. Mason broke Danielle's heart into a million pieces back in high school and she has never gotten over the pain that he caused her.
Mason Stone is not the same person he was back in high school and has had to grow up a lot after the death of his parents and an incident involving his sister, Jenni. More than anything he wants to apologize to Danielle for how he treated her back in high school and wants her to hear the real truth of everything that happened.
Will Danielle give Mason a chance to tell his side of the events or is she ready to move on with her life and try to forget what happened in the past?
I really enjoyed this story and how it was told in the present and in the past so we knew what was exactly going on at both times for Danielle and Mason. My heart just broke for Danielle with everything that she endured. I did feel bad for Mason as well as the peer pressure he was feeling was to much for him to confront and so many people go through it, unfortunately. By no means am I excusing what he did at all but I just really wish there was less peer pressure out there.
I felt bad for grown up Danielle as she had never gotten over the events of the past which limited her ability to let anyone get close to her and form meaningful relationships. She really needed to hear what happened to figure out a way to move forward with herself.
Mason had to grow up fast, especially with Jenni, and I'm glad everything sunk in and he was able to figure out his own path. I'm glad he kept going with trying to apologize and set everything straight.
Great romance about truth and figuring out who we are away from the groups that define us.
This is book 4 in the Witness Series but this is the first book in the series that I have read and had no problems following along. Definitely can be a stand alone.
I really liked how the author wrote the book with alternating between present day and past. Most of the time that frustrates me but not with this book. Personally I think it hooked me more into the story.
Mason is confronted with his past. He has a chance to apologize for his wrong doings. Dani wants nothing to do with him and once I read about what happened between them I don't blame her.
They fell in love in high school but boys doing stupid stuff torn that love to shreds. After meeting with Jenni, Mason's sister and hearing her story Dani decides to hear what Mason has to say. The result is she tells him she forgives him but can't forget.
Bravo to Mason and how he takes care of his sister. It really shows his true character.
He has her back when she is devastated by Jeff's actions and takes care of her. Their sparks that was never distinguished flame up again. They rebuild their relationship from there.
I think how Dani is able to get past what Mason did to her to build a future with Mason is beyond awesome. A very special lady. I don't know that I could do that.
I think it is also showing Jenni that she can heal and get beyond her own past for possible happiness. When she was telling her story it absolutely floored me. I was devastated for her. I really hope the author has a future story in store for her. I'd like her to be able to find her happily ever after.
I'm looking forward to reading Jeff's story as I'm hooked on this series now.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Mason, Mason, Mason what can I say I had a love/hate relationship with him throughout this book. This story goes from present time to Mason and Dani to past Mace and Dani. This is where the love hate comes into play. I would love Mason in one chapter and hate him in the next. The two sides to Mason were like night and day I loved who Mason is now but wanted to throat punch younger Mace. Mace was a DB jock who could have anyone he wanted that is until a bet between teammates. Can I say I truly disliked Mace best friend Brad and wanted to unleash on him. Daniele was a pain Jane in school so when Mace started showing her attention she fell hard but Mace being Mace hurt her by shattering her heart. Now years later she has a job to do and is shocked when she runs into none other than Mace. Can Mason prove to Dani that he has changed and is not the same guy he fell for in high school. I loved seeing the things Mason did to try to prove himself to Dani. I loved how the story went from past to present giving us small glimpses of what happened between Mace and Dani in the past. I enjoyed getting little glimpses at a time instead of the story starting from the beginning. Seeing the banter between Mace and his sister when they were younger and then to see their relationship when they were older was amazing. The way Dani is hard on Mason and makes him work hard for her forgiveness is priceless. This is a wonderful second chance story.
Do you remember that guy in high school that every girl wanted? Or maybe his jerk friends? Do you remember the girl that was always on the sidelines? This book is about those people. Meet Mason, the quarterback, the jock and player. He makes a bet with his best friends that he can sleep with any girl they pick out. Meet Danielle Reed, the student, the normal girl and innocent. Decisions are made and hearts are broken. Fast forward 8 years and she moves back to Chicago where he is. Neither of them are the same person, but will they give each other a chance? Can he atone? Can she forgive?
This was a good read. Kept me up until I finished it. Mason, is everything that you want him to be. In high school, he is a charmer yet, you get a look at a side of him very few other people see. As an adult, he is strong, loyal and protective. Danielle is everything you would expect her to be. The driving force behind this book is that the writer is definitely able to make you identify with these characters. Then she makes you feel like you are in their exact same situation. As a reader, I didn't feel like I was sitting on the sidelines watching this story play out. I felt like I was Danielle. I felt like I was right in the middle of the angst. When I feel that connected to a character, then I know the story is well written.
Take a dive into this novel. It is absolutely worth losing some sleep over!!!
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I am not usually a big fan of second chance romances. But ‘’say you remember’’ gripped me from start to end. I really liked the fact that Heather didn’t rush the second chance at love part (the reunion) the story was told at a steady pace that was easy for readers to follow. Although this book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone. The previous books give us a better knowledge of other characters that are in this book at points of the story.
Mason was a popular guy, a jock, and a good-looking guy in school. He wasn’t interested in settling down or having a relationship but then he found himself falling for Danielle Reed. But before the relationship could get far, he ruined his chances, he lost his girl. Now eight years later and Danielle is back. Deep down Mason is still in love with his Danielle. He refuses to move on, even when Danielle makes her hatred for him known. She wants nothing to do with him. But can he change her mind?
Although Mason hurt her, it wasn’t until Danielle moved back to town that she realised that there was still an empty space in her heart where mason used to be. Moving back has caused Dani and overload of memories. Staying away, keeping hold of her hatred and resisting him is going to be a hard task for her, especially when he is so determined to win her back. But can Danielle forgive Mason and give him a second chance? Or will it be too late?
H.D'Agostino is back with her Witness series with a intense installment featuring one guy who wants to make the past wrongs... right. I adored this series with all the mystery and suspense that surrounded it but this book in the series was brilliant.
#SayYouRemember was full of steam, love, lust, passionate embraces, and second chances. This book will take you on an emotional journey full of ups and downs but each moment was worth it once we go to the end. I devoured this fast read and it devoured me right back because honestly who wouldn't want a Mason in their life.
Mason is two different people.. the one he use to be as a kid and the man who he is today. He has past regrets that eat at him but none more than what happened with Danielle. Now he is face to face with her after all those years.. and he knows he has to make it rught. Danielle? She wants nothing to do with him.
Mason has a fight on his hands when it comes to the girl who holds the key to his heart.. even if it has taken him until now to figure it out. She hates him and wants him to stay away from her as far as possible. Can he prove he is different? Will she give him a chance?
Two souls. Two hearts. One beautiful second chance. One epic love story.
Get ready for angst, drama, secrets, truths, revelations, laughs, love and happy endings.
It seems like I am the only person so far who didn't like the book. This is the first book in the series I read, but that wasn't the problem here. I delayed my sleep time in order to finish this book and now I am not sure if my mind messed things up or things happened a little fast. Minor spoilers ahead, nothing serious. I didn't even realized Dani had a boyfriend until she caught him with Lena. Mason mentions that Dani and her boyfriend were together for one month and I am wondering how I missed that. I didn't even have the time to be bothered that the heroine was seeing someone other than the hero in the book I was reading. Did I accidentally skipped a part in my kindle?
We get in flashbacks the story of how Dani and Mason met and ended up ruining things almost a decade ago. These flashbacks are a chapter long and the timeline of the story alternates between past and present. All those flashbacks tired me and in the end I ended up skipping them or skimming them. The book didn't work for me. I didn't like any of the characters maybe with the exception of Masons sister. I don't think any of the characters had any growth and Dani seemed cold and irrational towards the end of the book. I wouldn't recommend it, but I am willing to try another book by Heather D'Agostino because this one might have been a miss, but I have read and liked one of her other books.
This story for me was like something I’ve read before to be frank. The jock, Mason Stone is your typical high school IT GUY. The guys strive to be like him the ladies fawn over him. Danielle Reed was the geek in high school. Well she is paired up with Mason the more time they open together sparks start to fly. In predictable fashion Mason was too late to see what was happening. hence it was due to fail before it even really began. Fast forward eight years Dani’s back in town and in comes mason back into her life. Their relationship or lack their of is love and hate meaning Dani despises him and well Mason wants another chance to makes things right. I have to admit even though I feel like I’ve read many but different interpretation this particular storyline never gets old. I’m a sucker for a second chance romance I’m always pulling for the couple who has a lot of working out to do. It will never get old for me. The author did a great job in keeping my attention throughout the book. This book is a prat of The Witness Series this is book four it can be read as a standalone. Who am I kidding I loved these characters I’m going to catch up before the next book in this series comes out sometimes in March 2017.
ARC was provided by the author in exchange for a honest review
First of all I hadn't read any of the other books in the series and really didn't feel lost at all. The author does have characters in the other books in this one and got to know them a little that way but didn't feel lost by not reading the beginning of this series.
That said - Dani and Mason. *sigh* don't we all feel like if only we could go back and change something something in our lives we would be better people or would be happier? That's how Mason feels and he has changed from the person that he was then.
When he sees Dani again, his biggest regret, he tries to tell her he's changed and she's like I don't want to hear it. Mason is a persistent guy though and slowly breaks through her defenses so that she'll listen to him.
Dani has changed also, she stands up for herself, has self confidence and has a take on the world attitude. Mason is a sweetheart, I like my men a little bit more alpha but he'll do in a pinch.
These two have lots of past hurts to get through, will it be enough for them to try again? Will what he tells her be enough?
Danielle and Mason new each other in high school. Mason was the cocky jock. In high school girls wanted him. Danielle was the opposite, she was more interested in getting her work down then boys. An assignment and a stupid football bet are what bring Mason and Danielle together. Both have felling for each other but things don't end well. Eight years later their paths cross again. Danielle never know that Mason had feelings for her in high school. She hates Mason. Mason now is a sweet kind guy. He has changed a lot from the person Danielle knew in high school. Mason wants a chance to explain to Danielle what happen and how he has changed but Danielle has held onto a lot of anger for Mason. I left that a lot of time was spent on Danielle trying to ignore Mason and not talk to him. It was a little frustrating because you can tell that the both still have feeling for each other and just need to hash their stuff out. When they finally talked I left like things rushed to quickly after that. Overall though it was a good read.
Say You Remember by Heather D'Agostino is the fourth book in her Witness series but this COULD be read as a standalone. This book falls smack dab into the territory of my favorite romance sub-genre, second chance romance. The angst and the pain from a love gone wrong slowly healed by the two characters making things right down the road and ending up with their happy ever after, my absolute favorite.
Well, Dani refuses to give Mason any help when he shows back up trying to make amends. She is determined to never forgive him for the pain he caused her years ago, but circumstances work in his favor to help show him in a better light and soften her towards him.
A fabulous read, well-paced, with great characters that you may not always like 100% but will always feel a connection to, and a storyline that will keep you enticed from first to last page.
Say you Remember (Witness, #4) by Heather Agostino. Danielle has moved back to her home town to start a new job. Her first job is relaunching a bar where she just happens to run into someone from her past. Mason was a typical jock in high school, as the star of the football team he was mister popularity and the girls threw themselves at him. Mason was the last person Heather expected to see at the bar. Initially Mason had no clue who she was but after he remembered who she was and what had happened between them he then embarks on making amends. This is their story. I liked the way in which the author told the story going back and forth between the past and the present. I like both Mason and Danielle. Their journey back to each other was one of many ups and downs. This book might be 4 in the witness series but can be read as a standalone. I had not read any of the previous books but after this book I might just have to go back and read the other 3 books. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I give his book 4.5 stars.
I love when I find a new series and I can't help but not want to put it down. That was this book for me. I had never read one of Heather's books before and I was happy to have been asked to read it. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. I am a sucker for those book where something happens in the past and the main character(s) meet up in the future. As per usual, this is usually a story where someone is hurt and can't see beyond the hurt that the other MC has done to them. This was the issue with Dani. The thing is, I really liked Mason from the beginning. You can't help but see that he is a nice guy. He is ultimately the one that you want good things for. Sure, he has a past, but don't we all. At the same time, I can totally feel for Dani. Guys in high school are pretty immature and total jerks. Add in that he is a football player and has cocky friends and that is a recipe for disaster. I totally want Mason's sister to get her story told, not only so we can get more from Mason, but also because she deserves a happy ending too.
