Dave is a successful, 50-year-old married businessman, who has always loved women. He has everything most men of his age want in life, but for one thing: his wife of twenty-six years has lost all interest in sex. Through a series of events he is inexorably and slowly drawn into a world of online chat rooms and internet dating sites for married people who are seeking NSA sex. But Dave has attracted a stalking, psychotic, murderer. One night, Dave is 'playing' in a chat-room, with Melanie, when the police arrive at his home. Patsy, a woman he had sex with in a motel four nights previously has been murdered, and he is the prime suspect. His alibi of meeting his brother seems to discount him, and he thinks that his secret life won’t come out. But the next night, after Dave leaves Melanie’s home, she is also murdered, and Dave’s only alibi then is his wife, Dianne. Wracked with guilt, despised as an adulterer, Dave must fight for his freedom and to clear his name, but the murderer is still stalking him, and anyone else he gets close to.
I left Perth, Australia to go East and find fame and fortune in the music business as a long-haired rock guitarist. I wrote poems and music, and my band used to open for some pretty big groups in my wild days. I gave it all up for love and got married (as you do when the right one comes along). Then, real life took over, children came along and I threatened to write a book for so many years my long-suffering wife eventually pushed me into it by buying me a laptop and said: "No more excuses, do it." And so began this amazing journey.
My first book, Forever Night, was contracted and published by now defunct Totally Entwined Group 's Evidence Press. It features a returned veteran soldier who has suffered horrifically, physically and mentally to become a serial killer while hunting for his runaway wife. As an SAS soldier he is far more highly trained to kill and survive, than the cops are trained to stop him. If you enjoy dark, Scandinavian type crime thrillers, you will love this story.
That was followed by a trilogy, about the rise of a cop through the ranks from Detective to Detective Inspector, when his world falls apart. Domin8, is about a married man who is drawn into the dark world of online dating, until someone starts murdering his lovers. The Vigilante Taxi features a man who knows tragedy, his life has been full of it and with nothing to live for he becomes a vigilante during the night shift while driving his cab. When he falls in love, and wants to stop, it's too late; the cops and an underworld figure are closing in. Burial Ground, is about newly appointed Detective Inspector Sam Collins, who is handed the job of finding a serial killer who has been killing and burying his victims in an old disused gravel pit for seventeen years. He is a close to a pure psychotic evil as you will find, worse then Hannibal Lecter, or anything from the mind of the great Stephen King.
Repo saw me return to two characters from Forever Night. New private investigator husband and wife sleuths trying to save a man from jail for a murder he did not commit. He returns home from working in a mine to find his wife gone, bank accounts empty, and fully restored classic muscle car repossessed. When his wife's body is found, he is arrested for murder. Dillon and Jayne enter a world of illegal poker games, protected by the underworld, to find the real killer and free their first client.
Next, I wrote a beautiful love story/thriller about Jenny, who travels in time to save the world from an all consuming blight that was genetically modified. She falls in love in the past, but can only stay for thirty-three days. This was picked up by my new publisher: The Wild Rose Press of NY. They have also contracted a trilogy, called The Deadly Glimpses. Book 1 is called Glimpse, Memoir of a Serial Killer, and Book 2, Glimpse, The Beautiful Deaths have been released. Book 3, Glimpse, The Tender Killer will be released in three months. The trilogy follows the fortunes of two married colleges who are attracted to each other while working together to track down three serial murderers. What will the effect be on their marriages, and their relationship if they act on the desires they have?
Thrillers and crime genres have always fascinated me, and in particular, the dark world of serial killers. I love a good, unputdownable, thriller. You know, the kind you just want to read one more chapter of at three in the morning before bed, but you have to be up at six to go to work. Have I succeeded in creating stories that can take people to that place? Boy I hope so.
I liked this book for one thing because it's completely different from what I usually read. It took me a while but I really got into the book. If you like a good mystery - this is a good book for you!
A book about morals, limitations, trust, pain, lust, envy and pride.
There has rarely been a character created like Dave. Dave is really a one of a kind. His twisted sense of right and wrong is what drives this book.
Can someone really love someone and have myriad affairs behind their back?
Can a person who is led around by something other than his brain and indirectly lead to the deaths of many be truly respectable?
This book takes the reader on quite a ride and you follow along almost the way a driver slows when passing an accident...just to maybe see what has happened more clearly.
The conclusion of the book keeps the reader guessing.
The details of the intimate relations could be a touch disturbing to some. The violence in the book could be disturbing to some.
The bouncing back and forth from present to past to present to past is disturbing, at least, to this reader.
The book leaves the reader with questions and head scratching.
A read for those who enjoy a voyeuristic look into the seedier part of the internet and of man's base desires. Interesting read that will keep the reader coming back for more.
Domin8 wow, a wonderful plot that combines not only a mystery story with a thriller but adds an extra detail (shh, no spoilers); but there a lot of surprises! Genuine entertainment from the very beginning and this book delivers suspense and action with a twist, keeping the readers interested and turning pages. This is not the characteristic type of book, with a good guy and a woman; there are twists that are unexpected.
Mr. Stephen B King’s writing skills, deliver a mystery story mixed with crime and thrills; with flawless ease, in a way that is appealing for the reader and the readers will find it hard to put down. Mr. Stephan B. King’s work has well developing characters, that work wonderfully together. And there is an intense consideration in the details of the plot and the complexity leaves the read with an extreme sense of satisfaction.
This is my second book by Stephan B. King, I was introduced to Mr. S. B. King during a reading challenge this winter when I read Glimpse. Honestly, I would recommend Domin8 to anyone that is looking for a different type of reading material. I Loved Domin8, it caught my attention from the first chapter and had me turning the pages throughout the night just to finish. I will be reading more of his books. Both Mr. S. B. King and his book Domin8 are receiving a 5-star rating. Well done, and I look forward to reading your next book. Thank you for sharing Domin8 with us.
Terrific story where I did NOT figure out the ending beforehand! Characters were well rounded and easy to picture in my head. They're actions always matched their personalities. Dialogue was tight and meaningful, except for at the end during a conversation with the "bad guy" that came off cliched and too Scooby Doo-ish.
Loved the background and world building! It was made clearly important to understanding Dave as a character. He's not a great guy, and I loved how King demonstrated this without flinching. He's actually a huge narcissist with addiction tendencies and little regard for others. I loved how King highlights Dave's cringeworthy persona, while having Dave himself try to justify it all.
Some of my favorite lines:
"“Anyway, the point is someone like me, of a certain age and maturity, who is successful, confident and has half-decent looks who advertises for women who wants to explore their submissive side safely, is not exactly short of takers. I get as much pleasure from making a woman orgasm as I do myself, and a lot of women find that unusual.""
"I don’t relate my unfaithfulness to not loving Dianne. If she had sex with other people the way I did, I would have left her; that’s the type of person I am. But I would like to think I never gave her cause to find it elsewhere, whereas it seemed as if Di didn’t care if I did, just so long as she never knew the details. "
"Most women I’ve met in day -to-day life are more than willing to flirt back, and I believe they too love to be made to feel they are desirable."
"Before my descent into a life of wild no-strings online sex, mostly I hadn’t and was faithful to my wedding vows, but over twenty-six years, on three occasions I did stray. That old hackneyed and well-worn cliché, they didn’t mean anything to me was never more accurate than in my case."
I did not care for the switching of points of view from 3rd to 1st and who was talking through the story. It's not wrong...I just find it jarring and it briefly pulls me from the story flow as I adjust. This is a personal issue for me.
I also loved that at the end, he had to be TOLD what redemption is! Did he find true redemption? Who knows. The man never knew when to quit and was a womanizer to The very end in my opinion. But I really enjoyed the Dave character as it's rare to find a author committed to having his main male character true to end without some weird drastic personality change. Sometimes a douche goes through a lot of chaos and horrible experiences...but he's still a douche.
I received a digital copy of Domin8 from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This book disappointed me for several reasons: The author is Stephen B. King. Ok, my bad. I assumed THE Stephen King had a book on Net Galley for review. The book starts out well. Builds tension, reasonable writing. Then it becomes repetitive. It devolves into soft porn. It gives more detail than I could ever want about how married people can use a web matching service to cheat on their spouses with other consenting adults who enjoy S&M. No, the web site was not named. There was foreshadowing that was far too direct. Of course people that the narrator had hooked up with began dropping like flies. After this happened several times (I lost count) the narrator became a police suspect. I lost interest in plodding through the book, so I skipped to the last couple of chapters to see how it ended. The villains had plausible motives, but I did not remember reading about them AT ALL earlier in the book. My advice to the author is not to publish under such a famous and well known name, even if you are using a middle initial. He sets (unaware) readers up for disappointment.
Domin8 had me turning the pages through the night to finish. It’s not your typical book with a good guy and a woman. Dave is a 50 year old who loves women and sex. He is married and loves his wife of 26 years but his wife has no interest in a sex and they are mostly good friends so he begins a search of the internet for action when a tv show peaks his interest in the D/s lifestyle. He has no strings attached relations with numerous women. Dave becomes the prime suspect when two women are viciously murdered right after he leaves from their encounter. Fortunately, he has alibis and the 2 detectives (aka Starsky and Hutch) believe him but the search is on for the murderer. The suspects are many and kept me guessing. This is my first time reading a book by this author and I enjoyed his writing style. I will be reading more of his books. He made me sorta like a cheater and that’s a big accomplishment!
Title: Domin8 Author: Stephen King ⭐⭐⭐⭐ . . When I first asked @netgalley to review this book I didnt pay close attention to the title. Domin8 is in fact exactly what you think when it comes to sexual activity. . . I had mixed emotions as I started to read due to the reviews I read first. A handful said they loved it and it was well written, while others said they felt like it was just about sex & more along the lines of pornaghraphy. . . The book actually grabbed my attention rather quickly. Yes, it is all about sex...but that is the story line and I do believe it is very well written. It kept me on my toes and thinking throughout. I wasnt 100% who the killer was until the end and it all made sense then. . . I would read to the very end before you rate this book! I also liked the authors notes at the end to learn more about how it became published. This was my first stephen king, I will definitely look into more of his work
David is a fifty-year-old married man. His sex life is nonexistent; he turns to the internet for relief and finds more than his wildest dreams. With the internet, his every whim is at his fingertips. Falling into the rabbit hole was not his intention, but that's what happens when you are a self-center. With his darker fantasies realized, his wife not aware of his new reality; what could go wrong? Murder and he is the person of interest. As more of his past lovers become someone's target, he finds that there is always a cost to this lifestyle. With his life, his family at risk, friends looking suspiciously at him, and his job to protect, he must find out who is out to frame him for murder and why. Somin8 is a book that keeps you guessing till the end, written well, great characters, and a storyline I found original. Well done, Mr. King, your reader J@AA.
This story starts with the typical couple - happily married for 26 years, grown kids and loving successful couple. This is the shell we want to see until it cracks. Dave and Dianne have this but right before their eyes, things change and the next thing you know the turn you took is one you never want to be on. Dave is suspected of murder. It's up to Detectives Milansky and Collins to solve the murders. This is a murder mystery and has it's suspects, alibis and twists. At times it was hard to follow b/c this is not my usual genre and lots of possible suspects. Overall a good read with those murder mystery twists and flawed characters. Thanks to author Stephen B. King and this is my honest review.
Dave is a typical man with needs. When his wife of 26 years is no longer interested in him anymore, he turns to the Internet and chat rooms.
Dave is a fifty year old man, married for 26 years, their kids have moved out and his wife, who is no longer interested in him sexualy anymore. Dave turns to the Internet and sex chat rooms. Someone is setting Dave up to take a huge fall, when the women he hooks up with are turning up dead. The question is who would set him up? The story line pulled me in and I had to find out who did it. I did not see it coming.
Stephen B King's writing pulls you in and doesn't let you go till the end. It was a great read. I loved it. I recommend this book.
This book is probably one of the best books I have read this year. It was very hard to put down, with a well-structured and interesting plot that keeps you second guessing every movement and wondering when things are about to get uglier.
On a style level I really liked it, specially because I never found myself willing for parts of the book to finish and in general I dvoured everything the author had to say without the slightes doubt that it would bring me to a great conclusion. The characters are relatable, so much so that I found myseld wishing to read a novel based on the detectives that lead the investigation because they were that well written. I am very happy I came across this book
Domin8 is about a married guy, Dave in need, who had several affairs behind her wife’s back. He claims he loves his wife, but the passion is missing from their relationship. He goes after women for sex and this is what gots him in trouble. He became the main suspect of murder as someone killed one of his flings. A psychopath who is after him and not scared to even kill.
An exiting book with crime, lust, love and fear. I liked reading it, quiet easy to finish fast as there always happens something. Must have read for people who loves crime, murder, mystery and detective novels.
A very intriguing and twisty story. The murder-mystery and twists kept me flipping the pages.
Dave has discovered the online world, and things stayed hidden, until his world got turned upside down because of it. A murderous psychopath is close on his tail, but always just out of reach. Will they be able to catch him, before he hurts more close to Dave? You'll have to read to find out.
Warning: this book does contain cheating, but if you are able to look past that, then I recommend this book.
I loved the story of David Barndon, married to his wife Dianne, a nurse, for twenty-six years. They had three grown-up children and their life was good. There was only one thing that David wasn't happy about. He decided to look for some harmless, no-strings-attached fun elsewhere. It was only when the two detectives knocked on his door one night, while Dianne was at work that his world started to fall apart. Brilliantly written story with lots of twists and turns, I was never quite sure if what I thought would happen actually would. This book had funny, sad as well as nail-biting events throughout.
Very very interesting book, with lots of twists and turns. There was a lot of, Umm interesting, pieces throughout the book, but once the book got going, I thought it was a really entertaining. There was some outlandish moments, but overall I really enjoyed it. I thought the main character Dave had his ups and downs, but he played well off the other characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and Stephen B. King for providing me with an advanced reading copy.
This was read as an ARC and my first book from this Arthur. I enjoyed reading this book, the plot, and storyline. I also liked the fact the main character being in his 50’s and how it delved into his relationship with his wife, their marriage and how he goes outside his marriage for fulfillment. Except his lovers are dropping like flies.. Is he guilty and responsible? Hmmm
I really enjoyed this book. The mystery and twists were very well written. Loved the characters damaged and all.. The only reason I gave this four starts is because of the ages of the characters little hard for me to imagine certain scenes because of it. But don't let that deter you... It's really good!!
Wow! What a great book! I've never read anything like this and I enjoyed it very much! I am now interested in reading more of Stephen B. King's books. I loved the twists and turns until the very end.
Thank you so much, Stephen B. King, the publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this wonderful book!
this book was really great! loved that it kept you guessing . he is a married man who seeks women for sex . only bodies start piling up and he is being accused.theres more to this than meets the eye. read to find out why.
It is a great book. No my typical read but it took a few chapters for me to get into it. Dave is a good man who made some bad choices. Sam Collins I fell in love with. He believes in the inccoent until proven guilty. Glad he has the instincts he has when something doesn't feel right.

This is not your every day mystery. The characters were complex and damaged. The story kept taking twists and turns and you didn’t know who it was till the very shocking finale. This will definitely not be the last time I read Mr. King. Great story and plot line.
This sexy mystery book had me guessing until the end. Save is an everyday businessman with a healthy sex drive, and it has him searching for satisfaction in places he never thought he'd go. There's mystery and steam in this whodunit, so brace yourself for some sexy sleuthing!
Wow what an exciting story that kept my complete attention with the twists and turns, surprises and mystery that you'll never guess until it hits you. I loved the plot and the complex characters it was very different and I enjoyed that.
There are twists and turns tht keep you guessing until the end. I could not put this thiller down, had to read to the end to solve the mystery and crime. Interesting characters that blend together to develop this story and add to the drama. Shows a part of internet life that could draw you in and turn your life upside down.
