Nancy grew up in Brazil, and moved to the U.S. as a teenager. The mother of two girls, the inspirations for "Moroccan Mystery", Nancy is also a former tax attorney. She graduated from Stanford University and UCLA Law School.

Moroccan Mystery is an exciting novel written by Nancy Riley. The story takes place in Rabat, Marrakech and USA where the main characters, Julia and Alili live with their family. The story began when the two girls came to Rabat and went to the American school and made a friend named Abla. Next, Julia and Alili went to Abla’s house to play. Aili entered a room that had dead animal skins everywhere and was in shock. The dead animal skins were Aziz’s (Abla’s stepdad) it illegal for him to do endangered animals trafficking. She told her family but didn’t want to tell Abla since he was her step dad. Then when they went to Marrakech with the school, a woman called Mme Bernoussi began chasing them. This was because Julia and Alili knew the illegal activities about Aziz. Finally, before Aziz went to export other endangered animals, Aili,Julia, and Abla’s monkey Maco, stopped Aziz so he was arrested. In order to make sure he got arrested, Julia and Aili made plans and were secret agents to stop exporting dead endangered animals. This shows that Aili and Julia care about endangered animals and don’t want to hurt them.
The main characters in the novel Moroccan Mystery are Julia and Aili. Were very nice girls who did their best. Julia and Aili treat all the characters nicely except for Aziz because he was doing illegal things and they tried to stop him. Julia and aili grow by getting mature and older. At the beginning of the story Julia and Aili don’t want to move to Morocco and are sad to leave their friend, but because of the friends they made and the new places the discovered they loved Morocco at the end. From the actions of the main characters, the reader learns that you should always do something or tell someone, when you see someone doing something wrong. All of this made the plot of the story more interesting and the author always makes it more fun and more suspense because this is a real story but which not all the events happened so the author wrote how her daughters felt throughout the story. The most exciting part about the story is when the girls go to Marrakech and we meet a new character called Mme Bernoussi, who tells them not to tell anyone about what they know about Aziz or they might get in trouble. However the most disappointing moment is when Aziz catches Aili, Julia and Maco where he locks them in a cave. This is the high point where the reader doesn’t know what will happen.
I would recommend the book Moroccan Mystery to 5th graders, middle school students, parents, teachers and people who would like to know about morocco, because it’s an interesting real life story. This book is a mystery novel that keeps you in suspense and you always want to read more. Moroccan Mystery is a girl and boy book that always has one problem then a solution. I think that Anna plank, Caroline Ruz and Kristen Mitri would enjoy this book because they all once came to Morocco for the first time so if they read this book, they could see if they felt the same when they first arrived to Morocco. While reading this book i had many connections because most of the settings in this book, I had already been there.I really enjoy Moroccan Mystery and I hope that middle school students, parents and teachers could read it.
