Dempsey was supposed to read excerpts from WIlliam Bradford's journals, but I couldn't find a non-antiquated-English form. Then I found this book on my shelf and decided to use it. It is an adapted and edited form of the journals, adjusting the spelling to a more modern form but retaining references to God and the older, formal writing style. Having homeschooled for many years, it was interesting to read the "primary source", as it were, and recognize the origin of so many other things I've seen elsewhere (the wicked sailor who meets his deserved fate, the stories about the Billington boy, Squanto teaching the Pilgrims how to plant).
