I have read Wicked Clone multiple times and get new meaning from it with each read.
My first indulgence was motivated by my desire to escape the harsh realities of everyday life. This novel was sure to make me escape into a fantasy land of another time and place. Little did I know that this was more than a quasi-historical account of life in Transylvania in the 15th century. This book's time frame actually extended from the past to the future--and back a few times. Along the way, it planted the seeds for stories within stories.
Each subsequent reading gave me a deeper understanding of each character--real or fictional and there were both. Embedded were subtle cross-references between various storylines that sewed together a grand master plan of understanding. It's as if I could live in the book as each individual and feel their loves and obsessions, strengths and weaknesses, and finally their redemptions.
Two central characters—Mihaela and Gabriela—proved to be two sides of the same coin—a coin that was used effectively to trade values among the characters. Davidson—whom I related to most on a personal level—illustrates effectively the transformative power Mihaela was able to bring to him and many others—whose fate I will not reveal because I want others to live the uncertainty that I had.
To say this book is transformative is an understatement. I am not a religious person but this could be described as a religious experience. Its author turns readers into disciples of a universal birth of understanding. "I recommend each reader take the journey once...take time to reflect...and read it again...and again. Like a great Shakespearian work, one read is not enough.

Wicked Clone is the only cinema novel, a new genre. The words, with the imagery of poetry and the ease of prose, engage your imagination — much more vivid than any screen, projecting a movie with 187 scenes in your mind. You are transported from physical sensation to mental thought, feeling and contemplation, allowing you access to your spirit.

At the deepest level, you ponder “how to deal with the evil” (the book’s subtitle). Maybe, you’ll find more love in your heart, more inspiration in your brain and more light in your soul, using the book as a road map.
