I think Kenya was too much of a drama queen in this book and then London who decides to now finally come out of her she'll wanting attention. Poor Paris.. what can I say about her? She and Kenya should have been related in this book being that they thought it was about them. I don't think Kenya would have ever mention she had a twin if nothing had ever happened to Storm.
Good story overall with a lot of damn drama.

December 14, 2022This was really good! Kenya and London are twin sisters who were raised by their grandmother cause their parents were murdered. Their uncle Stone avenges their death but dies in the process. Kenya turns to a life of stripping and the streets while London goes to college and forms this group against drug dealers. Read the book to find out the roller-coaster ride the sisters go on. I'm on to the next book!

Zero stars.
Why did I read this book? It started a couple weeks ago, when a reddit thread made me aware of Say U Promise's existence...albeit not in the best light. Color me shocked, then, when I stumbled on Goodreads and saw that the book has a 4.27 star rating. I found a copy on Amazon for a penny and decided to give it a shot. What's the worst that can happen?
Many things, it turns out. I can't begin to describe in words how inept this book is. It reminded me of the terrible LGBT movie Ben & Arthur, which is rightfully considered one of the worst movies ever created. It's a thoughtful premise (in Ben & Arthur, it's about same sex marriage and homophobia; in Say U Promise, it's about how drug dealing can leave a community shattered), but it's utterly useless with the way the creator presented the information. In Ben & Arthur, writer/director/producer/actor Sam Mraovich proves to audiences that while he may have watched a couple movies in his lifetime, he certainly isn't equipped with the knowledge on how to make a film. Likewise, author Michel Moore doesn't serve her story Say U Promise well.
Actual excerpt: "Where is Amber? Have you seen her lately?" London was worried about her friend. "Last time I called her number a recording came on and said it was disconnected. I called her job and they told me she was fired."
Kenya hated to tell her what she really knew about Amber, so instead she put on her shoes and had London to walk to the store with her. When they reached Linwood Ave. and turned the corner, London glanced around, and surveyed the neighborhood. She could tell that much had not changed. "Same blight, same drunks, same crackheads. We need to do something to help our people."
No sooner than those words came out of her mouth, they ran into what Kenya didn't want to say...It was Amber. She looked torn da fuck up! Her hair was nappy and she smelt just like, like, ...fuck it, you know! Da bitch was foul, a real shitbag!!! Kenya was overwhelmed and nauseated by the awful stench that surrounded Amber's every step. Her eyes watered from the repulsive aroma that filled the air and she quickly turned away so she wouldn't pass out from having to hold her breath. (Page 91)
All of that was as written, with the poor grammar and punctuation, and the condescending omnipresent narrator. Additionally, the book is actually written in double-space boldface Times New Roman font. It's like the book was really only 87 pages, so with the bigger font and the double-spacing, the book morphed to the 238 pages it currently is.

Say u promise was an eye catching book everything about that book was interesting. It was about to sisters who lost both of their parents in the drug game. After they parents died their grandmother and uncle took care of them they were twins named London and Kenya they were totally different London was very smart and sometimes had to teach her teachers lessons. Kenya was the outgoing fashionable one.
This book also has 2 parts and they both are books that can get you hooked. In the first part of this book Kenya and London was orphans living with their grandmother with 2 very different perspectives of life. London wanted to go to college while Kenya didnt. While london was in college she got raped by her teacher who was later killed in a crossfire in a strip club (i guess karma is a b*tch). Later on in the book London went home to visit her sister which who she didnt know was a stripper and she also visited her bestfriend who was now a drug addict. London seeing her bestfriend like that made her want to get drugs off the street even more so she started a program called P.A.I.D(people against illeagal drugs) which went more global than anyone thought and it actually started to get drugs of the street.
Kenya on the other hand was pushing drugs for her boss at the strip club who got killed in the same crossfire that her sister teacher got killed. London didnt know anything about her sister secret the only thing she later on found out about was the whole stripping thing and knew nothing about drugs. After Kenya boss got Killed she moved to texas where her boyfriend lived which whom she met while she was pushing drugs. Her boyfriend was a major drug dealer who was very rich and she knew if her sister found out her boyfriend who soon became her fiance was a drug dealer knowing she was against it would never talk to her again. Soon Kenya sister program began to affect the streets of texas and her fiance operation. Which began to cause very big problems that her fiance supplier was gonna get rid of one way or another even if it meant killing London the sister no one in texas knew she had not even her fiance. Then her finance see's a picture of the boss of P.A.I.D who he thinks is his girl but he gets confused cause he knows that Kenya would never do anything like that if she supports him and this problem becomes very big and confusing for Kenya her fiance and her sister London.

November 25, 2008This book is a drama filled book about two twin sisters who are raised by their grandmother because their parents were killed during a drug transaction. Then once they turn 18 they part thier separate ways and one goes to college and the other seeks the streets as the only resort she can turn to for love. The vents in this shows the hardships that one can come apoun and it shows the breakage of friendship bonds. I recommend this book to whoever likes to read about the things that go on in the streets and what can happen as a result of all of those things happening.

November 4, 2009I am absolutely horrified at the spelling in this book. I don't know who the editor is but they should be ashamed of themselves for letting this book get published in the condition it is. The story is pretty decent so far but I can't get past the number of misspellings...really sad!!!

This is the perfect book to read in the 6th grade with a broken ankle. I enjoyed it very much. Though unless your child your is impressionable I wouldn't recommend it to them.
