In a brief and dignified text, Helme Heine retells the Bible story of Creation, and in delicate luminous watercolor paintings he shows God, the supreme artist and creator, at work on the wonders of our world. This simple, childlike interpretation of the Bible story will give small children a sense of wonder and joy about the world they live in and the supreme artist who crafted it.
Helme Heine was a best-selling German writer, children's book author, illustrator and designer. He lived in New Zealand, writing screenplays, audiobook scripts and creating satirical drawings and sculptures.
As a prologue to the actual story, the first 5 days of creation are addressed in 2 pages of illustration, with a sweet humor.
Then God made Adam and Eve, and they have such grand adventures in the Garden! The illustrations show them as children, which I love, and naked, of course! They ride ride panthers and mastodons, and swim, and climb in the jungle. Really like this book.
This old Bible story is told in an original way. God is an artist who sculpts Adam and Eve. The book focusses on God as a creator. Using clay and drawings and in a studio, God models Adam and Eve after himself. He creates them as children and the final pages show them playing in paradise. The book doesn't touch on the story of an apple and a snake at all. Lovely book.
This is a water colored creation story about a god making the earth and all its inhabitants in seven days. God is a bearded short white man who sculpts elephants and Adam and Eve, two small white children who run wild through paradise climbing tress and riding the back of mammoths. It's fun to find the kids in the jungle scenes and the illustration is lovely.
I just LOVE this book! I have it in soft cover. It is called "Saturday in Paradise" and tells the Creation story as in earlier reviews. The illustrations are exquisite.
