Some people do it for the love of money. Some for the love of the thrill. Still others do it for the love of the kill. They do it for the love of each other. What a breath of fresh air!

It's great to read a book about heroes and heroines who aren't perfect. Who are, in fact, very far from perfect. I adore Mackenzie and Gabriel, because they both own who they are -- faults, flaws, and all.

The story itself is fast-paced, emotionally packed, and completely capable of holding a reader's attention. You won't want to put it down, until you know how it's all going to turn out!

I will say there was something that bothered me. As this book was published through a publishing house, this is NOT a reflection on the author or story, but this book could have benefited a great deal from a competent editor. There were a number of typographical and grammatical errors that should have been caught and cleaned up by the editor.

Still, these errors aren't enough to come between a reader and such a great story, and I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good First Person Action/Romance novel.

(MILD SPOILERS) I had some issues at the outset, mostly because I didn't initially buy into Mac as a hard-edged assassin. The first two cracks she takes at her target, she makes major fumbles. She goes along with Gabe far too easily, and he seems to trust her, making himself transparent in a way that wasn't befitting a man in his line of work.

But I couldn't put the story down. Mac was so completely relatable, her friendship with Bobby was adorable, and seeing her find a kindred spirit in Gabe and build her dysfunctional family was just too lovely. About half way through, the action really picks up, and you get to see that hard-edged assassin that you've been told is in there. I really loved how the story ultimately unfolded. Despite my reservations in the beginning, by the end, I was glad that she didn't start out as a caricature assassin, and that her human side was developed first.
