This monograph is prefaced by a biographical essay on Ivan Il'in (1883-1954), a major Russian philosopher of the 20th century. Particular attention is paid to his two “Hegel's Philosophy as a Doctrine of God and Man's Solidity", which, according to the author, is one of the best treatments of Hegel, and “About Violent Resistance to Evil.” Il'in's later works in which he made an attempt to formulate the basis of Orthodox philosophy are also studied in detail. An appendix contains four of Il'in's works of 1911-1914 that have not been published since that time. Commentary.
