This book is perfect for high school students. Every congregation should be going through this book with their high school age kids.
This book is easy to understand and gives the very basics of Authority and what God wants of His people. A lot of books have lots of fluff and man’s opinions. This one is to the point and helpful in explaining concepts .
This should be required reading for all Christians wishing to study and interpret the Bible. Ground in logic and the belief that scripture is the very word of God, Moyer discusses the role of communication, authority, and practice in the first half of the book. The second half is a collection of essays on these various issues with a particular focus on instrumental music in worship. That issue is a practical field for considering the things discussed in the first part of the book.
Good overall summary of authority issues. Not as in depth or detailed as I would want. Not great at anticipating counter arguments, but it does make an effort. Probably weakest in the authority from inference idea.
Some of the most legalistic and dogmatic and creedal writing I have ever read. This book is for people who don't want to challenge their beliefs, only indoctrinate themselves further.
A good overview of the principles of Biblical Authority. I particularly appreciated Essay 9 - "CENI" Matters, and Essay 10 - On the Authority of Creeds.
