Lee Ryan is a suicidal, mentally ill writer with one to become a published novelist. On the verge of attempting suicide, he receives the call of a life time from his favorite publishing company informing him they would like to offer him a deal, the only contingency being that he must come up with a brand new book within three months. His problem is that he has never completed a story. In what turns out to be the most exciting adventure in his life, he packs up and heads west, embarking on a two month long trip from Los Angeles to Seattle, experiencing all sorts of things outside of his comfort zone, ultimately discovering the truth in all writing, "A writer is the sum of their experiences." He experiences everything from promiscuity, drugs, posh night clubs, even exploring untouched nature in Big Sur and other national parks along the way, all of which help him discover who he truly is outside of just an aspiring writer.
